CoastalWx
Other than a day or two possibly....I don't see big heat returning either for the next couple of weeks. It's an interesting trough-ridge-trough pattern from west to east. The heat will want to push NE, but gets cutoff to our southwest. Maybe a piece or two tries to move in..but the overall look doesn't support a multi day heat event. It also doesn't look very cool either.

Damage In Tolland
Lots of sunny days ESP early in the month but low dews to get nights to radiate in typical spots so cooler nights. Then the last few days of month really roasted highs up up up.

Baroclinic Zone
Lets see what the weenies think.......can someone explain why the avg highs for May were above by a decent amount, yet the lows just below normal? Most of May was pretty nice with lots of sun so we were able to maximize daytime heating and with the clear days we could get good radiatoinal cooling at night. CoastalWx
Except for the urban pit KBOS, lots of stations that aren't the typical suburban radiators still did well at night. You guys are all correct, the continental style of the airmasses we were receiving were conducive to these warm days and cool nights. These airmasses weren't really above normal either..in fact many had below normal 850s at times. Our normal temps in May take into account the many days that we can be tainted with marine flow so all you need are sunny days and nice W-NW flow...and boom...daytime highs can be above normal and nights actually below.
