Bozart
Of course possible cell of interest looks to cross Ft Hood. Bleh. It's a tiny thing so far...but it looks like it's gonna pass just south of town. Try just south of Belton or Temple. That'll give you some road options for trying to follow the thing for a spell. Be advised: it's moving right along. Ground Scouring
With a shortwave lobe (PVA) approaching from the west, there will likely be a weak secondary low forming near Texarkana over the next few hours, thus promoting increased helicity and bulk shear. The low-level jet should thus strengthen, and the low-level winds back somewhat, over the next few hours in the Arklatex region. Combined with slightly steepening mid-level lapse rates, this should promote an increase in hail and also favor at least an isolated strong tornado. Ian
Where are yall trying to target? Avoiding the base and staying N or E of Temple or S of 190? Initially avoiding the base but now also trying to avoid the city. Storm not really doing much. No need to hit it yet. Will prob try to meet it soon. Bozart
Where are yall trying to target? Avoiding the base and staying N or E of Temple or S of 190? Today smells strongly of bust. As for tomorrow: the Palo Duro Canyon makes for a nice day trip.
Scott747
36 from Gatesville into Temple is a fairly decent road that inbound shouldn't be to bad. Once nearing Temple there is a loop that can help you avoid the city in either direction.
SluggerWx
Today smells strongly of bust. As for tomorrow: the Palo Duro Canyon makes for a nice day trip. I actually think the recent products from the SPC suggest things tend to be intensifying a bit.
Ed Lizard
I said it earlier by a cell NE of Abilene and was wrong, but while I don't see big rotation on free NWS radar, that cell approaching Ian is getting that more interesting look to it. Not a hook or anything, but sort of that look like it might be trying to get there.
cstrunk
Today smells strongly of bust. As for tomorrow: the Palo Duro Canyon makes for a nice day trip. I agree. Bustola. Never have liked squall lines are far as supercell potential. Can't count on isolated storms firing ahead of the line. Especially when the line originates from convection from the previous night. Ian
Today smells strongly of bust. As for tomorrow: the Palo Duro Canyon makes for a nice day trip. Yeah it's definitely not living up to potential. Though we found the storm maybe. Small victory.
IsentropicLift
Southernmost cell nortwest of Austin is starting to show some rotation per the Central Texas radar site http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?product=N0S&rid=grk&loop=yes
Ground Scouring
Yeah it's definitely not living up to potential. Though we found the storm maybe. Small victory. Tail-end Charlie works every time...rotation is increasing on recent passes and the environmental lapse rates are improving due to the convergent air mass off the nearby Gulf source of theta-E. Ground Scouring
Except yesterday. Well unless you count the one way south in TX. Yes, and there were also a few supercells down in northern Coahuila and Nuevo León, MX...but still, I think you have done quite nicely considering all the mesoscale forecasting hurdles over the past few days. Scott747
Looks like it will track across Belton after 430ish. 36 should open into two lanes once past the bridge over Belton Lake (or least the were working on it the last time I was up that way) and then you have the loop around Temple depending on the track.
