jgf
Is it possible to write some sort of script for a windows PC that will "interface" with the NOMADS data server, to download files? What I want is an easy way to download RAP gribs, for only a few variables, in a geographic "sub-region", for all forecast hours of a particular cycle. jgf
http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/wesley/fast_downloading_grib.html Start there. at the bottom, it seems to indicate that if you want a geographic sub-region, you need to go through the manual NOMADS interface. but, it's an old discussion (2005), so maybe it's different now...? If you go to the NOMADS server: nomads.ncep.noaa.gov and click on grib_filter for any model you want, then select a cycle, you can specify what levels/parameters/sub-region you want, then click the box for "show the URL only". This is the URL you will use to automatically (script) get your grids.
