das
They've kicked on the supplemental product generator for the area TDWR's for the current severe event. Here's the original announcement from last year for the original 11 sites: http://www.roc.noaa.gov/WSR88D/PublicDocs/TIN12AddedTDWRproducts.pdf I don't remember seeing the technical implementation notice that the TDWR's that were a part of the increased scan rate during severe events was expanding. Kmlwx
Is the data from the TDWR's viewable in the GR products?
southmdwatcher
Yes, TADW and TDCA are running on the shorter intervals this morning on GR3 2.0.
wxmeddler
All the DC areas tdwr's are now able to transmit their one minute scans. They were able to do it before but only the NWS Offices could see them. The one minute scans are activated when the radar goes into VCP 80 mode. winterymix
10 May, around 10pm. Some of us need a primer on the radar availability options. I've got Radarscope on my Android phone vs. the radar on weather.gov vs. the radar on Intellicast.com vs. the radar on wunderground.com Why can't we easily see dual-polarization products at weather.gov? How does Intellicast produce the "weenie-radar" winter products that assign blue to snow and red to freezing rain, etc.?

I'm not das but I'd think it has to do with the public having no idea how to interpret it - it would just cause confusion IMO.
