TORNADO WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBANY NY
531 PM EDT TUE MAY 21 2013

The National Weather Service in albany has issued a

* tornado warning for,
northern litchfield county in northern connecticut,
southwestern berkshire county in western massachusetts,
northeastern dutchess county in east central new york,
south central columbia county in east central new york...

* until 600 PM EDT

* at 529 PM EDT, National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 6 miles
southeast of copake, or 12 miles southwest of great
barrington, moving southeast at 15 mph.

* the tornado will be near,
sheffield by 545 PM EDT,
ashley falls by 550 PM EDT,
canaan, eddy field and falls village by 555 PM EDT,
norfolk by 600 PM EDT...

precautionary/preparedness actions...

the safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. get under a
workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. if no basement is
available, seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an
interior hallway or room such as a closet. use blankets or pillows to
cover your body and always stay away from windows.

if in mobile homes or vehicles, evacuate them and get inside a
substantial shelter. if no shelter is available, lie flat in the
nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.

a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT
tuesday evening for northern connecticut and western massachusetts
and eastern new york and southern vermont.
