Ginx snewx
@stevemacweather: CT Chill Keeping Cicadas Underground For Now. @DarrenKramer8 explains how the 17-yr event is on hold till it warms: http://t.co/HLRtKFO2Lo Bust? now that would be pretty funny
Mr. Windcredible!
Bust? now that would be pretty funny Everything I've read says late May through early June for energence in CT. Need soil temps at around 64 to get these things out...and from the link you posted in the other thread looks like we've got another 10 degrees to go. I have to imagine these things are like cockroaches...nearly impossible to kill off. Nevertheless, it will be declared a bust by anyone who doesn't have theses things in their neighborhood. Is there any migration of these insects as climate gets warmer? Maybe we'll start to see some pop up in MA with time.

ineedsnow
just found this so maybe they make it this far north but I guess I will find out If you're in the right area, but in the wrong year, you might find some "stragglers", which are Magicicada that emerge ahead of time (or after)

Superstorm93
Can you actually use these things as effective bait? That would be pretty convenient since I have an acre of woods behind me and I'm likely to be inundated by them rather soon.
