As for cicadas--I've heard a few stories about there may be a big batch of them this year. I'm not sure if they're ever an issue around here. I can't recall any periods.... Deer flies are the biggest pests around here... they show up in mid June and ruin the summer for a while. Those things will just eat you alive if you try to go jogging or anything. I always wondered how much a late season freeze can do when it comes to killing off bugs. Is there any science to it or good examples in the past?
