Great day!

If we're talking about weather that people experience, then Connecticut is representative as it accounts for a quarter of New England's population and contains half of the top 10 largest cities. Even if you narrowed it down to Mr. Torchey's little corner of little Connecticut, that speck still contains nearly a million of New England's 14 million people.

Well then we should add BDR to his daily departure listings ;)

It's not that at all. Nor is it a rage against his lust for warmth. It's the incessant bickering when the mets, and others on this board, discuss the weather. What happened to the rain, or the cold, or the back door front. This after a good chunk of the region did have these things happen. Some of us appreciate the discussions that the mets on this board give on a daily basis. From here on out, I choose to ignore.

The issue here is we have someone from far SW New England and someone from far NE New England bickering.    Geographically, that's like comparing Boston to Richmond....of course the south end of NE is going to be alot warmer.  There's a NNE thread for discussion of weather to the far north for a reason,  it's nothing like SNE weather. But do agree as I've stated often, the trolling and agenda talk is beyond old.  Unfortunately, some choose to engage....

-

Anywho, it's close to 70 already here...feels like early July out there.  AC going on tonight if the backdoor doesn't get here-was a bit miserable last night.

Upton's discussion says it says out of their coverage area.....

59F with -DZ and BR. CoC day.

Another 0.25-0.33" of rain overnight in the area up this way... upper 50s with low clouds and murky.

Lovely week coming up...best "summer-like" week ever.  Highs get up into the 70s for a few days before falling into the low 60s for highs later this week.

LOL. Call it what you will. You will never find a post by yours truly questioning a met and his/her forecast. Nor will you find a post where I call bust. Weather will do what it wants to do, no matter where you live. My favorite quote:

- “You can't get mad at the weather because weather's not about you. Apply this lesson to most other aspects of life.” - John Ruskin-

New England is a big area and there is a NNE thread, but this is the banter general discussion thread for this forum.

I understand MainePhotog 's point as being the posting from someone in SW CT saying "what happened to the doom and gloom" or "back-door fail" when a lot of areas in New England saw those things. If Coastalwx says it looks to be a wet or meh week, he is likely not talking about SW CT. Like this week could very well be meh for the northern and eastern areas of New England...so the posts of "meh bust" pointed at the mets may not be warrented.

SWCT will have a more summer-like week than a lot of areas north and east in New England.

70.3/ 67 here. Isn't this awesome? Hopefully we can fire a few bangers later this afternoon

Here's hoping you get your "bangers" tonight. Might get a few here on Thursday/Thursday night. I enjoy a good thunderstorm. That's the only thing I miss about living inland. By the time most thunderstorms get to the coast, they are falling apart and are just a rain shower.

Yeah to me one of the top 2-3 things of summer is the storms. Love them. The wx this week on the good side of the backdoor is my favorite summer wx and I wish it would stay like this. HHH with afternoon storms. But we're lucky to have gotten 4 straight days of this with no break in mid - late May. Tough to have it last that long this early

I get that, but due to the huge geographic reach of New England, there's bound to be quite the range of weather and associated discussion of that weather.  And given the large amount of posters in SNE, the discussion is more likely to be geared towards that part of New England.  Agree with you on point two.   Perhaps though, when someone is making a call, they should specifiy what area they are referencing.  (or heck, maybe some could just stop the trolling)

Do you really see much in the way of storms?  Yesterday had nothing and not seeing support for much today other than some isolated stuff maybe near the Backdoor front, but in reality, could be 0-2 after today

No he doesn't, but he thinks he lives in tornado alley.

Western CT and western MA will see some today though...and probably Kevin's area. I could see it further east as the BDF is shallow.

Thanks for speaking for me. I don't think I live in TOR alley. I think today features a very good chance at seeing some big storms over much of interior SNE away from that back door hell out your way. Will everyone get one? Of course not but there will be storms all around today

I think they'll extend further east. Front is real shallow. Could be nice near 495..and probably almost to the coast.

HRRR has a line across most of SNE.

I actually had almost a half inch from yesterday's showers too.

Looked like there would be two separate lines later on...one from like S VT through S NH and into far NE MA with a separate line from S VT then moving through western MA and down into CT where it seemed to pick up steam.

Really have to watch the progression of those lapse rates today along with where that axis of stronger shear sets up.  The NAM is a bit further south with the axis than the GFS but if any storms ride along the instability/shear axis one or two could really take off.

Lapse rates are ok for our standards...decent actually if that plume of higher lapse rates moves in. Best shear may be across MA and CNE while higher Cape MA and points SW. I'd say some decent boomers later in some areas. Kind of meh as far as s/w forcing goes...that's more for areas north with a s/w moving through NH.
