The 'oh, who cares' 1st half of May boring ass pattern banter thread

Do you really believe that your back yard is representative of the boundary layer? This is where proper siting becomes meaningful, and the airports have it in spades.

I think my backyard represents where I live not any large scale importance to weather systems, if I say my dew is 68 and IJD is 63 I certainly do not expect someone saying no way lol etc. That happens frequently here.

What exactly is a micro climate? On what scale? NCDC says there are three distinct climate zones in Connecticut: the shoreline, the far northwestern hills, and everyone else. OK, so my back deck is cooler than the local ASOS, what does that matter on the grander scale of sensible weather?

Thats fine...but we just shouldn't use dewpoints out of context. We don't use home station wind speeds out of context. We usually say stuff like "wow my davis measured a 44mph wind gust, thatis impressive for my shletered station". Why can't the same thing be done with dewpoints without creating a fuss?

I really do not care.  We all know the nooks and crannys of sne micro climates, somebody 6 miles sw of logan can be experiencing completely different weather.

It is what it is, sw ct south to north and west is an amazing example, the shoreling nw hills and everyone else argument means nothing to me when my client in North Stamford has 8 inches of snow and somebody on Shippan Point by the water has green grass and cat paws.

Yeah I mean I love the gaps that home stations fill in for us. The PD family site is one of the most useful tools I use in winter for nowcasting during frozen precip events.

I was more just emphasizing that we should realize what home stations are good at and what they need to be "adjusted" for. We usually take their wind speeds with a grain of salt, and we should with dewpoints as well even if the wind and dew readings are "accurate" for that specific spot. As long as we are educated on that aspect, the home stations are great.

dude, whatever negative stuff is going on in real life does not need to be dragged here...when i met you at the first ne g2g right after we all migrated from eastern, i asked you who you were at eastern and you rather sheepishly told me weatherx, but that i wouldn't have seen you around because you had gotten yourself banned because of uncalled for rantings and raving/tirades...seems like you are stuck in a pattern

Hi Dianne! My issue is the troll. Surely (and I hate to say "me") is tired of seeing the best operational forecasters opinions go potentially by the wayside, or being influenced by the troll. Someone needs to say something.

Cheers

There should be a troll emoticon we can give people...

And to think that CT Blizz or whatever he calls himself now, thought that I joined just to troll him. I nearly spit up my drink when I read that. I lurked around here for nearly a year before joining as I wanted to see who the person was that the Accuweather folks where poking fun at. The epic battles between him and MRG Pete where hilarious to read.

Not that I know of, but they know about him over here. Accuweather is alot more civil but it lacks representation in New England. Alot of members are concentrated around the Baltimore/Philadelphia/NYC area.

I haven't been over there in awhile, but the few times I went there, the crazy weenie-ism made this place seem like watching CSPAN. I knowledge level over there was pretty low and not many mets posted, but perhaps more do now.
