Until the atmosphere sheds this propensity for buckling the flow along 60N, summer will not begin.  Every time the models have hinted at the flow finally flattening ... here we are again, with a big high created out of confluence and moving N of New England in the middle/exteded ranges.

Must be the 5 or 6th now...

How long until this pattern likely breaks?

Great to see the Ansonia snowfall record become official.

A few things about it... one is that the snow was just measured the following morning... no 6-hour clearing. The second thing that's remarkable is that the liquid equivalent was 3.24". This wasn't fluff!!!

Nice write-up Ryan!  I'll never forget the 6"/hour band with hail... never seen anything like that.

lol...the camera has auto exposure so it was letting a lot more light in at sunset. Soon it will kick into IR mode.

Lisa got a good video of it going around to the front yard where it ripped down my bird feeder. I was torn between scaring him away and watching the feeder carnage unfold.

The low temperature readings are fine but those high readings are bogus. Compare the reading in Danbury from the other CT reports that day and it's totally out of whack. I think that number is wrong by at least 6 or 7F.

As for the Torrington measurement it seems really high to me compared to what downtown Hartford was that day at a much lower elevation subject to better downsloping.

105F at Torrington seems very suspicious. I'm more inclined to believe 105F at Danbury, but I haven't looked back at the 1995 setup and nearby observations to weigh in with more detail...

Ginx the highest hourly report at the Danbury Airport was 98F on 7/15/95. It seems hard to believe the coop station got to 106 that day.

Also... BDL... everyones favorite downslope dandy torch from hell spot at a lower elevation was 100 that day.
