The 'oh, who cares' 1st half of May boring ass pattern banter thread

LOL! At noon EDT, Caribou, ME has the warmest temperature in the country at 81°F.

May is when it happens.  May 22, 1977:  Caribou 96, next highest was Phoenix at 95.  Lots of airplay on the evening news.

I'd expect CAR to lose the race today, as that noon reading was only 9 AM Pac time.

Edit, after reading PF's post on huge diurnal ranges:  The day before CAR's extraordinary heatwave began (96/95/94 on 22-24) saw the greatest diurnal span I've recorded w/o a major frontal passage involved - 86/30 with pure sunshine.  That's only 1F short of the 57F range of 2/2/76 (46/-11), but the Groundhog Day storm that drowned downtown BGR was followed by a CF that dropped a 1 PM temp of 44 in Ft.Kent to -6 five hr later.  Given the 1" RA and the significant RA event a week earlier, the iceholes on N.Maine roads were abundant and spectacular.

I did 28/113 in California on 6/9/06 skiing at Mammoth in the morning and visiting Death Valley in the afternoon.

nam is really wet for tomorrow

not only is it wet but it's pretty chilly too for May standards.

Looks like a few weak waves develop along a boundary and with increased lift and southeasterly flow that should promote widespread showers and pockets of heavier rainfall tomorrow.  Watch out for upslope enhancement!
