Baroclinic Zone
I'm skeptical on the intensity of the rain. Methinks meh when all is said and done. I tend to agree in some respects. I think we'll end up seeing totals in a more banded fashion than a general soaking for the area.
Mr Torchey
Local newspaper ran a front page article today how the dry spell has already caused headaches for W MA farmers. Days of rain would be nice but we'll see what actually falls out here. This kind of talk is not allowed

I could see the worst dry areas WCT and WMA making out the best. Fact is the pattern is changing, what we had was awesome for a long stretch. Nothing out of the ordinary storm wise May showers. HPC has the area in over an inch in a weeks time, then of course there is the frost which could be the last for southern areas. Full moon is the 25th this year so could be one more for interior normal cold spots.
powderfreak
I was in Romania in the late summer of 1995. Forked up place then. Yeah its not that bad...definitely westernizing quickly with European Union money. Sort of sad too when you find McDonalds, Subway, and KFC in these old historic mountain villages though. I do like how literally everywhere has free high speed Wi-Fi...the US could learn from that haha. Even the local farmer's markets have free wireless, but I have found that in a lot of places in Europe...free Wi-Fi networks are much more expansive than in the States...like to the point that you don't need a data plan on your cell phone. Thanks for the maps Ginx...looks like the cold sort of comes in from a westerly (or even with a slight SW angle) flow instead of a more pure NW flow. Looks cold aloft though. MainePhotog
Its gotta start somewhere....and 1/4-1/2" is a start. Just look at it like a 3-6" snow after a snowless Nov/Dec...not big but its a start. Though folks should be prepared for all the "that was a useless rain event" posts and all the "meh still 4.5 inches under for the year." Make it the best rain ever. I can see it now. There will be some folks that will get ~.25" of rain and complain how useless it was. That amount of rain is far from useless, especially across a region as a whole. Hell, even .10" of rain can be beneficial.
Ginx snewx
PF it does transition and get colder from the NW as it progresses still showing precip for NE Kingdom. Will be interesting to see how that pans out, heights are certainly low like 530 ish and 850s at elevation are certainly cold.
Mr Torchey
Absolutely kick ass marine layer just made a run inland, got to about my area and retreated but, was magnificent ala west coast. I think one inch of rain is a good starting place for the 5 day period, anything less to me will be a fail. Time to hit the dirt, make this the best day you have ever had in you're entire life!!! powderfreak
This kind of talk is not allowed In all reality it will be interesting to see what happens with the northeast rain this week...all spin aside. I'm sure even a quarter inch will help your properties at least temporarily. Funny how the drought tracker thread literally died when Blizz stopped posting. Its last post was like 3 days ago...most don't seem too concerned yet.

Mr Torchey
Why is the word DROUGHT being brought up? I don't recall a single person using that term for this dry spell?????????? Yet the anti dry contingent uses it daily?

Time to hit the dirt, make this the best day you have ever had in you're entire life!!! Just read the local AFD's and you seem to be setting your sight's high on anything less than an inch is a fail. I thought you were a glass half full type of dude? I'd say a half inch should be the expectation unless you are looking for a reason to spin the rain as a fail. It looks like one of those events where some spots get locally heavy rain amounts but basin averages stay in the 5-1" range...especially with the localized nature of afternoon convective rains. Jesus freak you look into things way too much! I am just happy its going to rain, 99.9 % of my clients have irrigation, the dry spell is just something to talk about, and this run of weather in sne in spring has been quite impressive. Like all good things it will come to an end, and the rain will be welcomed, for those that farm and such this is great news. Besides that its been a talking point, not much to talk about when every single day is pretty much the same for almost a month:) I just hope we start as some light rain drizzle then ramp it up, condition the soil to absorb the water, take care man! Yet the anti dry contingent uses it daily?Who is anti-dry? Seriously dude lol. It has been dry and everyone acknowledges that there is a short term deficit.Folks just don't seem to care. Dry spells and even historic droughts are about as low on the weather impact list in New England as dust storms or smoke. Dense fog is a higher impactor on society in New England than dryness. It has been remarkable even before I left. I just wish I found dryness more exciting. I'd rather track dew points lol. Hopefully you get some good downpours...I know the golf courses need it. Great beach weather though...I can appreciate your enthusiasm for the sun. The beach is the same to the mountains for me and its nice to have that kind of passion about something. Enjoy the day LL. Allsnow
Nearing 6 inhces below normal since March 1. Light showers just don't cut it, we now play catch up the rest of spring and summer, this could potentially be a huge issue down the road. I fear the drought of 2013 has shifted east and is imminent time will tell. Ut oh he said drought
