dendrite
Eleanor and I have been working out the 24hr climo issue at ORH since the clock change on 3/10. For some reason ORH kept reporting the 24hr max/min at 12am...except in EDT instead of EST. If you look at the METARs you'll find the "4" group start popping up at 4Z instead of 5Z! Since all of the automated BOX products use the "4" group in them they indirectly were reporting the wrong temp climo data at times. This went on up through the 4/23 record low mad day . So basically any late or early mins/maxes need to be corrected from 3/10-4/23. This makes the max for 4/23 38F which ties the record low max for the date. Just thought I'd fill everyone in with that FYI. I know Ryan was doing some detective work with me too. I'm not sure how many days this affects, but I know for sure there were some other days with late min issues too.

A few days earlier I think they had a min of 37F when it should be 35F from a night time FROPA.

Definitely minimal effect, but it affects the 4/23 record. There's probably 5+ days in there that are off 1-2F. I'm OCD with data so this makes me feel better. I was tempted to put my heat on briefly this AM, but I battled it out. We got to 32F, but it's 63F inside and out right now. I was expecting a better temp recovery today, but this marine tainted airmass with little mixing is a little stubborn.

weathafella
Very nice spring so far. Kind of cool this weekend but brilliantly sunny. I walked with the dog from my house to the arboretum yesterday and another hour within and back home. Solid 10 miles. May do it again shortly but will wear better shoes. This week looks more humid with needed water from the sky at times. Going to the game Wednesday night (against my best judgement to not do night games at Fenway before June) but it looks like if we stay dry temps will be tolerable. CT Rain
Definitely minimal effect, but it affects the 4/23 record. There's probably 5+ days in there that are off 1-2F. I'm OCD with data so this makes me feel better. Unfortunately with the way the budget is now and likely to get worse in the future I'm really worried about the climate record. Getting rid of CWOs and short staffing at NWS offices (maybe even consolidation down the line) will probably do a number on the climate record for the first order sites. CT Rain
The GFS keeps the threat of convection around into Friday as that boundary hangs up. I wouldn't count on a lot of rain but someone could get a pretty good drink. Big fropa over the weekend also looks pretty slow. Probably chance showers/storms Saturday and Sunday. weatherMA
lol at having the heat on. Also, kind of sucks that this nice stretch is about to end....as nice as its been. Been doing loads of work and now I'll finally be done in a little over a week and the wx is going to suck. Oh well. Another beautiful day. Going on 9 straight bluebird days. 68/

You should hear the story I heard for Logan as to why they sometimes don't report tstms. It's not their fault...but as you said..kind of sad to hear. Same goes for snow. In this day and age when every inch is scrutinized to try and decipher a trend in snowfall...it's not only a bad metric to use...it's being measured by someone not even at the field. joey2002
28° here off a high of 71° for a nice diurnal range. It's been a while since I've had one that large. I'll have to look to see when the last one was. Edit: Looks like March 2010 was the last time I had wild swings like this. From the 17th to the 22nd I had a stretch of dry, warm weather. The 20th had a high of 75° and a low of 32°. Wow that's impressive... I couldn't believe how quickly the temp dropped last night starting right after dusk. I'm OCD with data so this makes me feel better. I was disappointed the record isn't a new record, but at least it is still a tied record. I would have been much more annoyed if the record didn't even tie. I think the month actually ended up warm biased slightly with the 4z reporting vs 5z despite the one day where it went the other way (the record-tying day). Snowfall lacks so much homogenuity as it is....its kind of pathetic its only going to get worse despite our technology. But snowfall is the one of the few things where technology cannot really help us measure it as well or better than simply having an observer present. Typhoon Tip
Fairly impressive pattern change on the Euro toward seasonal warmth in the late middle/extended ranges... We'll see if it materializes, but the operational GFS has been throwing out deep layer subtropical ridge expansion signals too. Funny, the 00z version of the Euro tried to spin up a elevation snow/coastal storm for New England on D10 -- completely different. zippo dependability.
