LOT

WATCHING EXPANDING CU FIELD CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON AS
MODERATE INSTABILITY HAS DEVELOPED OVER THE AREA. LATEST SPC MESO
ANALYSIS INDICATES OVER 1000 J/KG MLCAPE ALREADY ACROSS MUCH OF THE
CWA AND IS WEAKLY CAPPED. SEVERAL BOUNDARIES ARE EVIDENT ON VISIBLE
SATELLITE INCLUDING A LAKE BREEZE THAT HAS PUSHED A FEW MILES INLAND
OVER COOK COUNTY. A REMNANT OUTFLOW BOUNDARY STRETCHES ROUGHLY FROM
MENDOTA EAST TO JUST SOUTH OF VALPARAISO AND SEEMS TO BE THE IMPETUS
FOR THE DEEPEST CU GROWTH THUS FAR WHERE A FEW SHOWERS HAVE ALREADY
DEVELOPED. AN MCV IS LIFTING NORTHEAST ACROSS THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER
NEAR MOLINE WITH ANOTHER AREA OF MODERATE CU GROWTH STRETCHING FROM
EAST CENTRAL IOWA ESE TO NEAR ROCHELLE AHEAD OF THIS FEATURE. LATEST
RAP FORECAST SHOWS INSTABILITY CONTINUING TO GROW OVER THE AREA AREA
AS DEWPOINTS IN THE UPPER 60S AND LOWER 70S PERSIST AND TEMPERATURES
CONTINUE TO CLIMB TOWARDS THE MID 80S. THE DEEP LAYER SHEAR OVER THE
AREA IS FAIRLY WEAK AROUND 20 TO 25 KT AND WOULD LIKELY NOT SUPPORT
ANY TYPE OF ORGANIZED SEVERE THREAT GOING THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY
EVENING. STILL...GIVEN THE GROWING INSTABILITY CANNOT RULE OUT
ISOLATED STRONG STORMS DEVELOPING ALONG ANY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED
BOUNDARIES THIS AFTERNOON WITH HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL AND SOME
POTENTIAL FOR STRONG WINDS.

You are getting soaked - DLL!

Rain seems to be doing a good job of avoiding far northern IL for the most part.

Rained from 4pm until about 1030...from hard to light...tons of lightning...  about 2 inches here, but i'm sure there are higher totals in areas...  die pattern ..die.

Would you rather have this year's pattern or last year's?  For me it's an easy decision, but for you, probably not so much.

That is tough...last year was really bad here for lack of rain..i think i went something like 6 weeks without mowing...maybe longer.  I don't mind rain, but every day?   I'd take last year, but with less heat...to me the heat was the bigger issue.  80F dew point is bananas...
