nzucker
Can we see flakes in elevated parts of Westchester/Putnam with 850s around -3C if the NAM verifies?
Snow_Miser
Can we see flakes in elevated parts of Westchester/Putnam with 850s around -3C if the NAM verifies? I would doubt it. Those areas don't even get below 40 degrees on the NAM: http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~fxg1/ETAPA_18z/etaloop.html

Snow_Miser
It feels like October Agree. The low Dew Points and the breezy conditions feel very refreshing after the awful humidity over the past week.

Those areas don't even get below 40 degrees on the NAM: http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~fxg1/ETAPA_18z/etaloop.html Yeah, the sounding for White Plains doesn't get below 5C at the surface, even tomorrow morning with strong NNW flow funneling cool air down the Hudson Valley. Even with 850s of -2 to -3 and favorable surface winds, I think it's just too late in the season to cool off the lower atmosphere to support snow near the coastline. If it were a few weeks earlier, we'd stand a good chance. Flakes flew in Westchester on 5/10/1977 and accumulating snow has been reported here as late as 4/27/1967. This time it's just a little too late, though...
