Was really nice yesterday afternoon but then it got oftly cold outside during the late afternoon. Went out to dinner with shorts and a jacket on and I needed the jacket for sure. Reminded me of being in Florida during the winter.

Had the heated seat on in the car on the way into work, hard to remember the last time I did that in the middle of May.

NYC/LI (except Pine Barrens) should be fine and stay in the low to mid 40's, 30's elsewhere. Radiational cooling areas might get around freezing.

...going to be a close call for me in eastport..veggies are not in yet but i do have

some annuals in pots..they will get a blanket on them tonite and hopefully that

will protect them..

The park got down to 42

- 44 here in Queens

The Heat island was so evident tonight:

I think it's the wind that didn't die down that didn't let us cool as much. Look at somervile, down to 31 with a calm wind and still calm with a cuurent temp of 34. Westhampton which beats or matches somerville all the time is at 45 with a decent wind but overnight when the winds went calm they dipped to 31.

So while the city was never going to get as low as the suburbs, places like east Queens and Nassau would have cooled off more if the winds had died down early.

The models have a thunderstorm signal Wednesday with the frontal passage late in the day.

A 700 mb jet of 45kt+ coupled with elevated instability and a WNW flow could allow for some stronger

cells develop and race ESE with steep mid level lapse rates.
