Watching the Mets and Pirates game, and waiting to see the storms roll through.

I was at the Mets-Pirates game several years ago, the night that the Macroburst moved through Brooklyn and Queens, and there were a couple reported tornadoes. That was an impressive storm as I remember being in the team store at Citi field and being amazed by the wind and rain.

The Bucs must attract big storms to the area!

Some good lightening and thunder here on the east side of Manhattan. Wind was not so bad here. Must have been worse on the west side of the island. Down on the Hudson River promenade, the FDNY is operating at a restaurant with multiple large trees down on it. One minor injury reported, no significant structural damage.

Just made it into Manhattan as the severe warned storm was moving in. Torrential rain and flash flooding all over the Henry Hudson Parkway. Some CG strikes, but not a lot of wind and no hail. Somewhat surprised OKX had so few storm reports, but maybe it's been updated since the last time I checked around 6pm.

I really hope KNYC can make a run for its record on Tuesday of 40 degrees set in 1878. Would like to see it at least tied. If winds go calm Tuesday night, the UHI might prevent it. It would definitely would be nice to see a record low from the 1800's broke, considering how hard it is.

It could get pretty close though I doubt they'll hit the record. 850s are a bit colder than -3C at 60 hours on the 18z GFS, which is the wee hours of the morning. One problem is that there are light northwest winds which downslope Central Park; a due north wind is preferable for radiational cooling. I think the combination of poor wind direction and UHI will keep KNYC in the mid 40s Monday night.

The suburbs, on the other hand, should see frost in favored locations. This is very reminiscent of the 5/10/2010 cold snap though that came in a warmer overall regime.

I was in Brendan Byrne State Forest (Burlington County) on Friday, and Ramapo Mountain State Forest (Bergen County) today.  The difference in leaf out is remarkable.  Just comparing the White Oaks, the trees in Brendan Byrne are weeks behind the trees in Ramapo Mountain.
