BxEngine
wind damage? It must have been, 4 block radius worth of power lines damaged or down completely.
Sundog
It must have been, 4 block radius worth of power lines damaged or down completely. I don't remember seeing damage like this so often in the metro area. Two tropical systems, a few tornadoes, several severe thunderstorms, straight line wind damage, etc. The last few years have been insane.

weathermedic
It must have been, 4 block radius worth of power lines damaged or down completely. No wind to speak of here. All the electrical problems were from flooded manholes that had wires catch fire and travel up the poles and down the blocks. Common occurence with manhole fires in the city. IsentropicLift
Some areas have already seen close to 3" of rain with more on the way, some of the smaller streams and rivers are already responding in a big way. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=phi
MJO812
Belt Pky at Cropsey Ave closed. Water up to the windows on cars. Numerous streets/intersections flooded out in Brooklyn. Rain has stopped now. There is a little river on my sidewalk because of the backed up sewer on my corner.

Lol. I know how it often works, but considering the convective nature of the rain, i had assumed it was wind. We've had afew gusts up here...guess i assumed wrong. My bad. IsentropicLift
Even the 06z NAM was way to dry for the area, it had basically less than 0.50" areawide through 24 hours
Snowlover11
with the 4 block radius of down wires, possible, mirco burst of some sort? will be interesting to find out. EDIT:nevermind I didn't see weathermedic's post.
uncle W
Here are rainfall totals so far. The area between Middle Village and Broadway-Junction got dumped, with over 3": I'm close to the 0.85" that fell on Staten Island...my old house in Brooklyn is close to the 1.81" that fell in Brooklyn...is there an exact address for these obs?... MJO812
Updated rainfall totals: I'm right near the 2.41. The rain has finally stopped.
weathermedic
That 2.41 in southern Brooklyn is my station. It's probably actually closer to 3 inches or slightly more. I have a power issue with my vantage vue. Internal backup battery circuit is broken. Only works off of solar power. It's good this time of year to keep it powered all day and night as long as the sun is up. It lasted up until just before 8am this morning before it went out. It's back up now with the brightened sky but I lost the accumulation of whatever rain fell at the end of the heavy rain. dbc
Doesn't surprise me that these are the totals already in my area. Could be even a bit higher than shown in the map. Flooding is awful considering we've had zero rain basically the last few weeks.
SnoSki14
Kind of dodged the bullet in Old Bridge, about 30 miles SW of the city, only .5" fell. Could see more though until the front passes on Sunday, there's a reason why we don't see droughts and this is why. Many places will probably make up those deficits very quickly or already have.
