I saw bowme mention tropical aka cromartie. It's too bad he got banned. It would be fun to torment him about the winter that won't end and now the cold lake temps with the accompanying breezes causing his palm leaves to curl. :devilsmiley:

I talk to him still...he's on Yahoo every once in awhile.  A greenhouse he built last fall saved his butt, so he says he doesn't care what happens outside, he can just escape to his tropical plastic house...  Saukville still hates winter and craves 80F dew points..i. think he told me one time he didn't use his AC last summer!!!!

Why doesn't he just move to Florida?

Little late, but heres a pic I took Sat morning, April 20th. Assumably this 0.1" will be the last measurable snow of the season. Assumably lol. It was both regular snow and graupel, and was frozen to elevated surfaces, requiring scraping not brushing.

I had to scrape almost half an inch of that crap off my car Friday night.  Was stuck on good.  It did seem to stick more to the car than it did the grass or anything else.

Got to 60 here today felt damn ****ing awesome!!!

still snow in spots.... this is across the road at the lake.  Ice is melting and snow is going away.

Today felt magical tho.  It was amazing to not wear a coat and sock hat. :P

Going straight from snow on the ground to spring warmth a nice thing about the north country.  Winter is a bit long but at least the in-between "brown season" is more truncated than here.

His palms growth rate will probably be stunted this year (the ones in the ground). - Unless he builds greenhouses around each of them!

I saw a video today of a fish swimming across a road in Grand Rapids. Something you don't hear about everyday!

Wow, 10-16" for Ashland through tomorrow morning.

last Morch has really mind humped those of my relatives down here and the ones up-north that hate snow and now think last Morch is the normal lol.

They b**ch when its hot, b**ch when its cold.. b**ch, b**ch b**ch about the weather...  what do they want I dunno.

With normies b**ching about the weather is something called "small talk".  I recall a similar phenomenon in college, only the topic of b**ching was either the weather, the quality of the dining hall food, or some inane gossip regarding a professor getting in a drunken bar fight or something else of such sort.  Only here in :weenie: ville are we dead serious, bordering on nervous breakdown, when we b**ch about the weather.

Also hate the fact that I can pretend to b**ch about the cold, heat, or the humidity around normies, but I can't b**ch about winter torches, snowstorm busts, or severe busts.

Pretty potent shortwave looks to move through the area Wednesday night with 500mb temps dropping to around -35C.

namMW_500_temp_057.gif

Better forcing stays over Northern WI but steep lapse rates, as NAM soundings show a bit of elevated CAPE and the fact that its overnight might give us our last chance for snow.

Good stuff from Minneapolis:

TO BE HONEST...WE DID NOT SPEND A GREAT DEAL OF TIME DISSECTING THE
EXTENDED FORECAST WITH MUCH OF THE EMPHASIS ON THE IMPENDING
WINTER STORM. THERE IS A MINOR SYSTEM PASSING TO OUR NORTH ON
WEDNESDAY THAT WILL BRING A LITTLE LIGHT RAIN/SNOW TO THE AREA AND
ALSO A REINFORCING SHOT OF COLDER AIR...BUT THAT SYSTEM MOVES
THROUGH QUICKLY. SO COUNT THEM...WE HAVE THREE AND A HALF DAYS
OF COOL/WINTRY WEATHER...BEFORE A PRONOUNCED WARM UP. SPLIT FLOW
ARRIVES FRIDAY AND LAST THROUGH AT LEAST THE WEEKEND. THIS WILL
MEAN NEAR NORMAL TEMPS WHICH IS WELL INTO THE 60S. 60-70 IS IN THE
FORECAST IN THE EXTEND. SO COUNT THEM...THREE AND HALF MORE DAYS
.

I would guess he probably will move at some point...   Someone who hates winter that much, i doubt can last for very long up here.

I see a 70's in your extended forecast from the NWS!

Poor guy is going to have to be on heavy heavy meds because until his daughter is out of school and house or until both of their parents and relatives move south he is stuck up here..  Its too bad he can't move out to La Torch at least and be your neighbor.  Your spring daytime's are normally ten times better than his and you do great for heat in summer.

I wish every night until october 15th could be like last nights.  upper 40's is the best sleeping weather with windows open.  Robins are a great alarm clock if you need to be up by 4:30..  Boy they sure do get up early and chirpy  - us humans not so chirpy that early.

Brewers 8 in a row and the Cubs lose it in overtime...  Luckily Castro swung at ball 4 to win the game earlier...whew!

Not sure what Palmboy will do.  Living in the tropical belt of Wisconsin probably isn't warm enough for his plants...

Turd day today....mid 30Fs and windy...ewwwww

I've seen 1000's of ducks lately... I took the kayak out on Sunday and was chasing huge flocks of them out on the river..  I figure everything north of here is still frozen, so they are all waiting here to move north...looks like next week they should be good to start to move.   The river and marsh are all flooded, so plenty of space for all of them..

Hayward, WI is showing 10 inches of snowfall from the storm...  Duluth showing around 8 to 9 inches...     Nothing like raising those stats for the year at the very end...

Doesnt anyone remember when Tropical LOVED snow? As in...had his own snowmaking machine? Wtf happened?

Mid life crisis...  mental breakdown...

An interesting observation regarding the state of the trees in the region. Flew from DTW to MDW Sat and MDW back to DTW Mon, and the aerial view is all bare. If you look at webcams (which do not usually have a crisp resolution) it is like magic, around, say, Columbus you see a sea of green deciduous trees (which Im sure arent full leaf but again, very noticeable on webcams) and once you hit Cleveland/Toledo on north its all bare (again, trees have buds, but on a webcam they appear bare as winter). There appears to be a magic line somewhere running through northern IL/IN/OH/etc.
