it was only in the uppers 30's out but the sun sure warms the inside of the car up with the windows closed..   it was like getting in to a green house the first two times until I finally smartened up and left my window open some..   wife wasn't impressed when getting in to the car the 3rd time.

Avg high up to 55.  only 1 degree above the avg high at INL and 1 degree below the avg at Rhinelander, WI. and 6 degrees colder than La Torch - La Crosse's 61 avg.  Lake Michigan FTL in Fall and Spring.

Watching news coverage of Boston and DC.... DC looks like mid summer and Boston looks 2 weeks ahead of us.

The cold air that's dominated in the Plains and Upper Midwest this April hasn't made it to the East Coast, unlike in March when we were both below normal. I live just north of NYC, and a lot of the common deciduous trees are starting to grow leaves as well as full bloom for cherries, magnolia, Bradford pears, apples, and dogwood. The vegetative growth was a bit behind here but warmed up quickly with the last few mild days...we got ahead of that slow-moving stationary front that dumped the heavy rains back your way, and that gave us a few days of warm southerly flow. Central Park is +1.1F for the month of April, and DC is a whopping +5.2 this April.

We are looking at a major cool-down now, however. I'm supposed to get to 33F tonight, and this is a little late for my last frost, as it's usually around April 10-15. Highs in the next four days will only be in the mid 50s here, so I still think NYC can finish the month below normal. Today and tomorrow look close to -10F departures with lows in the 30s and highs only reaching the 50s. DC will probably finish in the +2 to +3 range, mild but nowhere near as warm as they've been. Interesting to see how the unseasonable cold that's penetrated most of this country has not touched us.

Good thing Miller Park has a roof.

Fantasy land GFS makes one want to get nude.  Sure hope its right..  I'm itching to do some gill and crappie fishing not in winter wx gear.  Can taste them just thinking about it.  Checked a few lakes in waukesha out from shore and it was quite depressing..  no signs of spring vegetation and freezing cold waters..  Looked like the the first half of Dec 2012 but only colder.

only buds and green seen up here today was of the smoking variety.   really need a couple days of true torch like most have seen already  and we'll be off to the races.   thank gawd because it's getting depressing out there with no snow. 6 months now of bare tree's and brown grass even gets to an ice pu$$ie.

45º in the LAF today. Makes for back to back -20º departures with high temperatures.

Majority of area courses still closed today due to the flooding/very wet conditions. Not like temps were conducive to golf today anyway.

Graphic on IND's page has the Wabash River here cresting at 25.61 feet, but 15 minute highest text data has 25.52 EDIT: 25.61 showed up in the text. Either way, 8th highest on record...going back well into the 1800's. Kinda amazing.
