2nd half of April, general forecast ideas and banter

for your neck of the woods, yes, but you're northern new england...in southern new england month will be average to slightly above.  Were there some cold days?  Sure, also some warmth mixed in...unremarkable as far as how the month will be remembered.

Your original statement:

"all over for the frigid fairies....(not that it was ever that cold to begin with)"

You made no mention of geographical location. I was responding with my "frigid fairieness".

Its all just hyperbole and spin anyway. The month has been fairly unremarkable. We did have some memorable cold days with yesterday around here (record low max set at ORH) and the almost unheard of sleet/freezing rain event during midday on April 12th.

We had some pretty nice days...especially April 19th. The month has lacked a signature torch that we had seen during several Aprils recently, but we were bound to get one soon enough that didn't have one. The late green-out and leaf-out (still hasn't happened in many places) probably helped add to the dreary feel to the month in some places. In other places maybe not so much.

Lol. San Diego isn't what folks think of when they think cool and dry. They think The Maritimes or Spokane

Have you ever been there in the summer? It's pretty cool on the beaches. Lots of 80 day 60 at night stuff. I'm not talking Palm Springs.

I was in SFO in August and even I thought it was a bit much.

Yeah I was out there in Mid- late June about 15 years ago. The thing I didn't like was the foggy mornings , sometimes until midday or later. It would get into the low 70's but that's not warm enough in summer. My uncle lives right on Mission Beach.

Or a nice June 2006 nor'easter.

That was awful. No golf for weeks.

6/1/09 was a crisp polar airmass.  I think we put up something like 67/37 that day. Def didn't need the AC for that. That whole summer I think you could have been comfortable without AC save a few days in August. But the dry cool airmasses like 6/1/09 are the best. Those 62/59 days with rain aren't as fun.

I remember how good the visibility was, you could see for many miles into MA, coming down off Mile Hill Road in Tolland. Unusually brilliant and clear blue skies for early summer that day.

Yeah that capped off the 12-24" of rain we had in ern MA during those two weeks..lol.

I remember 2009 quite well. It was a lousy start to July too, but we had some nice elevated convection anyways...Golf balls on MVY.

It's displaying a ton of videos, which one? You must have posted that on your phone.

Yeah I can't figure out how to post a specific video link from youtube from the phone. Is there a way? It shows as the video for me on phone. It's Skindred. The song is Nobody. You must recall that one. Play it. You'll tear something off the dashboard

It reminded me of so many of the days we got in 1992. That was our modern day "year without a summer" after the Pinatubo eruption. So many days of like 70/52 with clear skies. Even a few highs in the 60s I remember with sunny skies. Crazy for mid summer. We recorded exactly one day with a temp higher than 85F that summer...86F on August.

What an awful summer that was. Calgary , Alberta came and visited us that entire summer. Awful

Yeah we need another Tambora eruption to produce a cool summer here, though the folks in Indonesia might tend to disagree.
