HIPPYVALLEY
Left in the top of the 6th Double whammy for me watching part of a brutal rain shortened loss when not a drop of needed rain fell here.
HIPPYVALLEY
Feel bad for those in CCT and WMA stuck in the middle of 1934 drought conditions. Green green green. LOL. PBS reaired Ken Burns Dust Bowl documentary tonight. I tend to exaggerate dry conditions b/c of my vegetable garden (I've got about 10% of my beds planted) but the reality is we could use a half inch or more of rain... soon. CoastalWx
The Dakotas are now having those lush grass lands taken over by farmlands over the last few years. Dust bowl II? Well joking aside things have changed as far as are practices go since then.
Typhoon Tip
Is it bad if I hope for May cutoffs? If that's what you want, hope away ... Looks like ORH is going to topple the low max record. The Moon is dim visible, showing that this thing is pulling away, but perhaps 4 or so hours too short. This is a weird atmospheric transition, where if it cleared and the wind flipped or even went calm that much earlier, they might edge up a disappointment. Yeah while long-term weather patterns certainly played a role, the methods used for cropping and farming really played a significant role in the severity of what occurred during that drought
Typhoon Tip
00z NAM is back to flooding warmth to the CP tomorrow afternoon... Boy, this wedge job has been a real problem for the hi res model types. I saw the moon coming out and noticed the WV imagery really very dry west of here, and wondered if this run would come out this way.
Typhoon Tip
Yeah while long-term weather patterns certainly played a role, the methods used for cropping and farming really played a significant role in the severity of what occurred during that drought You know what it really all dances around ( fascinating ) is how the soil moisture plays such an important role in modulating the climate, and how that top 6 or so inches of that can go on to in part effect so much. Wow.

Wow. Yeah that is extremely fascinating. Hell several years ago Chunk posted some strong data showing a correlation between fall precip anomalies in the south and I believe how active the STJ was in the winter? Typhoon Tip
Brutal night at Fenway...brutal brutal BRUTALLLLLlLlLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL You almost felt like they air-mailed that loss in as a protest for playing in just abject conditions. The whole field was apathetic, and Oakland really needs this win for whatever reason. Baseball is played by the "boys of summer", not by the boys of a ridiculous weird circumstance of an exiting high that is anomalous to teleconnectors that just perfectly made it cold. SNE sucks in April. Period.

Clinch Leatherwood
Euro is beautiful for next week. What a great position for that high south of LI. Light westerly flow with seabreezes season? Could be sneaky cold air bottled up there. Raw week possible. Kidding aside this last 36-42 hours has been awful here. Most of this spring has been okay but when it stinks it swings for the fences. 40-43 with 30 mph NNE gusts in driving rains. Yuck

MainePhotog
Turn that frown upside down! No frown here. I actually enjoy this weather. I tell you what. You can have all of the putrid heat and humidity. I won't complain. I will be happy with onshore flow, and if we get the chance, days and days of refreshing rain. Nothing like an afternoon sea breeze to temper the mid-summer heat. Enjoy your Summer!
