It's apparently official. Friday's "sonic boom" in CT was just that. A meteorite crashed through a guy's roof in Wolcott Friday night. What are the odds!?

How big of a meteorite?  I was wondering if anyone ever figured out what happened that night, enough to shake houses (and the Guilford Police Station) and be heard by a lot of people.  I just can't believe something like that would cause places to shake.  That meteorite must've blown up the guy's house or something.

We are gonna roast in 70's to near 80 all of next week. We knew this should happen as everything gets shoved south. Those that bought the Euro run of 3-5 day nor'easter really struggled. Of course it's not good for the drought but some nice Indian Summer wx is coming next week. Yes Indian summer happens in spring after our last freeze. Lets get those dews up too!

Euro ensembles are definitely cooler next week, but still nice.

It seems like there's been an uptick in the frequency of these sort of things ... you think maybe it's just perception and being tuned in more, or is it really above normal.

There was that thing in Russia last month.  Than a week later, my neighbor and I were giving my car a jump, standing outside under clear skies.  There was a just a slight amount of afterglow along the western horizon, but it was mainly dark, when all at once there were 3 or 4 pulsing flashes, and fireball streaked across 40 or 50 degrees worth of the sky.  It was impressive enough for one's pulse rate to increase, particularly since the specter of Russian's event were so fresh in our minds.  The tweetisphere was ablaze from southern Canada to VA; a lot of folks saw the same thing. Then a week later, we go sonic booms in CT, with fragments punching through a roof top?     Interesting.

18z NAM suggests a broken line of thunder late tomorrow afternoon...  sneaking in under Weatherwiz's radar -- haha

The timing of the setup is similar to last Friday, but this looks like an even less impressive scenario for thunderstorms. Could see a few go severe back in Pennsylvania, but I wouldn't even expect thunder in these parts.
