April 12th Heavy Rain/Wind Event

The models have sped things up so I think, as usual, the NAM and ARW/NMM are going to be way too high with precipitation amounts. The RAP looks more reasonable with precipitation ending by 20z.

You can see the back edge getting close to clearing the DC area but what does fall is going to be quite heavy. The NAM has another area of thunderstorms moving through the area near 00z-03z after the main activity moves out, which is adding to the totals.

The 10z HRRR has main batch of rain moving out by 18z. But it has more showers behind it for through early evening. Total qpf as high as1-2" from NYC to PHL:

Starting to lighten up down here in Philly. Axist of heaviest rains have pushed east of the river.

I love days like this, chilly rains with strong winds.

I think i enjoy it bc it's got an autumnal feel to it.

This feels nothing like autumn...it feels like a blown SW flow event to me. This is crap and I'm not sure how you enjoy this for any purpose other than sleeping or watching movies.

LOL, if I was sick at home in front of the tv this would have been the perfect weather for it.

Yeah. Totally agree. Really Chilly here. Also the vegetation will really benefit from this well deserved rainfall. Anyway, there's about .77" of rainfall so far. Probably another .15-.2" before the rain completely tapers off.
