Thats almost impossible that it wouldn't be mixing with sleet...its completely torched above 850mb. Maybe you are in a pocket of weak lift mid-level lift right now and all the lift is below the inversion.

It's so cold aloft just off the deck, cruddy flake production certainly possible below inversion.

how mild are temps between 7h and 825 in his area? 7h looks like near 1c, is there anything significantly milder on soundings

Its probably +3 or +4 around 800mb or 775mb. But if most of the lift at the moment if below the warm layer, then you can see snow production since the cold layer is so frigid, like -6 or -7 even.

Key word there must be "almost".  I have no doubt the situation will change, but is what it is right now, and I like it. :)

Sweet,I remember your post a couple of days ago about seeing your last flakes and thinking nope, congrats

Thanks--glad to see it before I head down to Virginia Tech this evening (or at least as far as Harrisburg tonight).

Could even be partially melted garbage refreezing into white sand.

Would white sand blow float up/down in the wind like flkaes?  If so, I'll say that was what it was.  Now its' bonafide flakes.

It's another way to say lousy flakes. The lift is clearly near and below 850.

Temp down to 30.9 and our driveway is suddenly a sheet of ice.  We have guests checking in today and I refuse to have the parking lot sanded after spending a week sweeping the whole damn thing.

i didn't know you opened again for the season :) how exciting

36 and cold, miserable downpours here
