Central PA - Onward Into Summer 2013

Awesome, it's like we're trading places. I grew up in the millersville area and now commute to cockeysville. Heads up: house of pizza has dollar keystone lights on Wednesdays. Go with some friends and buy a pizza tray of beer for like $10. Other than drinking at house of pizza or jack's, (or one of the other area bars) there isn't a whole helluva lot to do in this area.

I actually took a class there a month ago (as a non-degree student to get ahead) and commuted each day, so we literally traded places everyday. The best part is that there's no such thing as rush hour since most people commute south rather than north on 83 (speaking of 83 it almost feels like an autobahn sometimes.... driving at 80 mph doesn't feel that fast).

But once I actually start grad school I'll be living there in a nearby apartment, it's too much to drive over an hour each way everyday. And I don't actually mind a smaller, more rural school this time, compared to UMD which was huge. It also helps that I'll be further north :)

I'm in their new Integrated science master's program which is a science degree (mostly Earth sciences, including a bit of weather!), but it's also mixed with business courses since the idea is to be able to apply science in the workforce (both business and government) while also having a good foundation of the way businesses work. It's just about perfect for someone like me who majored in economics and also loves weather.

Pattern wise, anyone have any thoughts about what is in store for the rest of summer, ie August and sections of September? Will we stay in this upcoming pattern of relatively mild temps but humid conditions?

Most think that the humidity finally returns sometime second/third week of August, along with warmer temps.

When I was at Millersville Univ. we were taught that there is on average 1, 10" + event every decade in Central PA.  The winter of 2009-2010 was an exception to this.

For true geographic Central PA it's around 3-4. We're right about normal over the last 10 winters here in UNV.

That sounds about right for LSV, one per decade.
