It was the 5th coldest since the airport became the official site in 1943. Since records began at the airport in 1943, the average high temperature in March 2013 was the 6th coldest. March 2013 tied for 5th fewest amount of 50º+ high temperatures. There were no 70º+ temperatures this month, only the 12th time that has happened at the airport. March 2013 was 4th snowiest on record for Indianapolis, since records began in 1885. There were two 4"+ snowfall events in March 2013, only the second time that has happened in March since 1943 (the other being 1956). The 9.1" on March 24-25, 2013 was the second largest March snowfall event since 1943. 11.8" on March 19-20, 1996 is the largest. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

WL COOP had 2.0"...but I've seen how things go there sometimes. I was still at Purdue at the time and have zero recollection of that event. Though maybe it was during spring break that year.
