In Alabama a lot of schools are letting out midday for a 5% tor from spc

Considering what that state has had to deal with in recent years with regards to Tornadoes, I think that call is fine. As we saw last year with the Henryville, IN tornado, a school isn't a safe place to be in a tor. Of course, a shoddy built house or mobile home isn't either, but you're at least with your family.

well i think overall AL and MS have had a number of big tornado disasters with people congregating in one location.. so they might have a unique history to a degree there.  but i dunno, the event shouldn't be that big. guess it only takes one..

Looks like they don't let snow cancel school in Minneapolis.  That snow would have shut down the counties around here for a week.

 

They know how to drive in it. Once flew into Minneapolis in Dec could not see a thing until we landed on the runway the snow was that heavy. Airport was running like normal, around here would have ground stops and possibly shut down.
