snowfan
No surprise that the showers didn't make it to mby last night. Feels great out this am. AC off and windows open. Might be the best day yet.
WxUSAF
BWI posted a +26F departure yesterday When did we last post a -26F departure? 1994 cold shot? The bell curve isn't centered on zero anymore...
WxUSAF
Probably 2004 January 2004? WinterWxLuvr
Looks like they don't let snow cancel school in Minneapolis. That snow would have shut down the counties around here for a week.

WxUSAF
you're right...and even 2/5/96 which I thought might be a candidate was a -23.5 so 1/19/94 which was a -33.5...lol Nice, thanks for the details. BWI was also +22F in late January and DCA was +26F that same day.
WinterWxLuvr
1/2 mi viz...0.25" liquid last 2 hours What amazed me was that every time I clicked on a traffic cam, I saw a school bus. Just a regular day for them.
MN Transplant
1/2 mi viz...0.25" liquid last 2 hours The NWS had my brother in the 8-11" zone as of last night. He has 2" and the back edge is just about on him (a little south of MSP). However, he does have thunder, so that's something. edit - actually, the NAM might end up not as bad, it was the GFS that was spitting out well over an inch snow qpf up there
Ian
Weird storm. Craziest was maybe places that got 1/4" ice after a day around 90.
snowfan
WCs currently in the -10s pushing -20 on the summits in the whites in NNE this morning. Can't imagine what it would be like living in a place that never sees a high temp above the low-mid 70s throughout the year and has maybe a 2-3 months during the year without the threat of snow. snowfan
In Alabama a lot of schools are letting out midday for a 5% tor from spc Considering what that state has had to deal with in recent years with regards to Tornadoes, I think that call is fine. As we saw last year with the Henryville, IN tornado, a school isn't a safe place to be in a tor. Of course, a shoddy built house or mobile home isn't either, but you're at least with your family. MN Transplant
Running 2-3 degrees behind yesterday at home, similar to IAD. DCA is stuck with a river wind and BWI has an easterly bay wind, so they are well off yesterday's pace.
WxUSAF
Sea breeze front (also cold front?) showing up on Dover radar moving into MD eastern shore. Nice temp contrast across it.
