SluggerWx
My wife came home from the DTC on 225 about two hours ago. She drove through a lot of standing water on 225, and saw 3 accidents in real-time. She said the other side of 225 was completely shut down, and she saw snow plows tumbling abandoned cars through the rapid that was 225. She said the cars were tumbling...crazy. Vandy
It is indeed pouring again in Boulder and has been for about an hour. Could get ugly if it lasts a while.
tacoman25
It is indeed pouring again in Boulder and has been for about an hour. Could get ugly if it lasts a while. Yes, it is. I tried heading that way on Highway 93 about 90 minutes ago and it just started dumping, water started washing across the road in several spots and eventually I had to turn around. tacoman25
Hate to say it, but I really doubt things are going to improve for awhile. Tons of moisture streaming into the area from the south. Right now, I'm in the dry slot in between the heavy foothill rain and the heavy rain in SE metro. Haven't seen barely a drop here in the past 3 hours. Crazy. tacoman25
Here's what Highway 93 looked like around 4:30. I can only imagine it got worse since then.
Vandy
Yeah, it just keeps forming. I've read that the reservoir in Estes is full and they are having to release water from Olympus Dam. Any word of something similar from Barker Dam up Boulder Canyon?

RAZR 2 Guess it got better fast, as I came home on 225 about 5:40 and went 55 MPH the entire way Colfax to DTC! Fastest weekday commute I've had in months. Really. But the flashing on our chimney is leaking because the wind is driving the rain from the E. Yuck.

Vandy
We have a decent shot at breaking last nights record streamflow measurement on Boulder Creek in downtown Boulder.
tacoman25
With that latest cell that has moved into Boulder Canyon over the past 30 minutes, I think Boulder Creek will hit the highest point yet with the next update.
tacoman25
This is highway 36 with Coal Creek flooding it about 2 hours ago. I had to drive through about 6" of water to get off the highway where they were diverting everyone, and there was 1-2' of water covering the eastbound lanes that were already completely shut down. mayjawintastawm
Aurora is closing in on a foot of rain since noon yesterday. 9 months' precip in 36 hours=not good. More in Boulder County too. Prayers for those in Boulder and Larimer Counties tonight.
icebreaker5221
We have a decent shot at breaking last nights record streamflow measurement on Boulder Creek in downtown Boulder. bocc2_hg.png Do you know if last night was a record for the date, month or an all time record? In any case, still pretty impressive and dangerous. Just talking to a friend telling me that Table Mesa Dr is even worse tonight than it was last night. That rain over the foothills better stop soon, but it doesn't look like it intends to
Amped
Boulder only Averages about 20" of precip a year. So, almost 6 months of rain in the last 72hrs. More to come tonight and Sunday into Monday.
tacoman25
Will this next surge of moisture moving into the metro area be enough to push Boulder Creek over 8'? Hopefully not.
SluggerWx
Can anyone find info on Sand Creek and Westerly Creek? Both join in a corner of Stapleton. That type of setup was where some of the worst flooding we saw happened in Nashville - two bodies of water (usually small creeks) joined.
Geos
This is an impressive event! Another heavy batch heading into south suburban Denver. Slugger - don't see any gauges near Stapleton. Chinook
I heard that I-25 is closed between Highway 7 and Fort Collins. Where are they sending the traffic? Can anybody get north to south?

Its closed all the way up to the WY line. Not sure if 85 through Greeley is an option or not. Seeing lots of flooding pics from there too.
MN Transplant
I have friends in Longmont. Evidently 287 is closed, so to get to the north side of the town from the south requires a trip all the way out to 85 and then over on 66. CSU is closed also today.
