I subscribed. I believe subscribing gives you one, not donating. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.  :P

Well, there comes a time  when you just have to voluntarily give up driving, lol.  Or at least limit your trip to the driveway.....  T

Don't think I'm there yet. Three years ago I still had an RX8 I used for drifting.  I actually used some of those skills Sunday.  :)

2/10s of an inch of snow in Wichita and NWS Raleigh has not even put snow in Friday's forecast.  What are they thinking? It always moves east.

And we are glad you had those skills!!   But think about my driveway suggestion, lol.

I was up in Atl. yesterday, playing chicken with the hurried folks, and was reminded full well why I don't want to take on any more jobs, lol.  I usually have 2 or 3 near death experiences during a weeks commute.  It gets to you after a while.  I'm becoming more and more the hermit.  Tony

Interesting.  I love to drive.  I'd jump in a car tonight and set off for Alaska without a second thought.

WeatherStar 4000 Emulator for Windows

Maybe everyone already knows this, but you can download an emulator that is configurable for your local area and preferences for the old (But Better !) Weather Channel Weatherstar 4000 Local Weather Segment.

It is completely configurable down to the background music and the scrolls.   When severe weather warnings are issued for your area, they will scroll the bottom of the screen after first scrolling vertically on your screen in a red background.

I downloaded it and set it up last night, however, there is a current pending bug to be fixed in that the local forecasts were hard coded and the NWS recently changed their server addresses.  Until this is fixed, it will not allow you to properly validate and save your own custom configuration.   Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Enjoy:

Sample done by someone else on the Net:

Download the Software, Sample Config Files and Manual:

Information you will need to configure:

MSFT XNA Framework must be installed on the workstation:

Just don't go through Atlanta :)

I love the open road too, but doing 75 on the connector trying to keep from getting run over by sleep deprived folks putting on make up, brushing teeth, reading books, and maps, leaving tires in the road, changing lanes on a whim, then going from 80 to stopped in 100 feet, ain't my idea of driving freedom on the open road, lol.

The last wreck I was in lost me half the use of my dominant right arm when a damn fool cellphone talking idiot ran a red light, and my artist acquired acute peripheral vision saved my life by allowing me to panic slam and tbone her, instead of her suv coming in my drivers door.  So instead of dead I got out and walked around thinking I was fine.  But a torn rotator cuff, and labrum, plus air bag asthma when the air bag broke open and flooded the car with a wonderful cocktail of 23 carcinogens that took away my breathing proved me wrong. I have wonderful driving skills, fast reactions, amazing defensive skills, but even the ones you walk away from can truck you up!  Best confine ones driving to the driveway, lol.  It's not you, but the other idiot you have to worry about, lol.  Gran Prix T

Of course, you live up there where there aren't 6 million people living right on top of you, so you may be good for a few more years :) T

You seriously drift? I thought the only drifting you would be doing was your afternoon nap! :)

Another blown forecast. :) Yeah I seriously drifted.  Lots of fun. Age doesn't have much to do with most things unless you let it.  I'll give you an example.  I don't like heights, never have.  I always wondered how I would react in a situation where I had to help myself or someone else in a situation that involved significant height.  It bothered me to the extent that when I was 57 I jumped from a plane. Scared ****less but I jumped. I haven't wondered since. I'm not planning on doing it again though. :)  I'm not sure if I am unusual or not, but it doesn't really matter because I don't plan on changing.

. Yeah, I was just messin about the drift. In with you on the heights thing.as long as I can remember . I can't even walk near the edge of the second floor of the mall without getting queasy! Don't even talk about flying. I don't see myself ever jumping out of a plane!

Well to be honest, if I had thought to put a lump of coal between my ass cheeks before I jumped, I could have given my wife a nice new diamond ring.

The only height I fear is being in an airplane. Never getting in one of those bitches.

Edit: Surprised no stars covered that word.

. When you and Wilkes hang out this summer, flying would be the way to go. Probably a 6 hr drive, at least , as opposed to 45 min flight. That could get y'all alot more "hang" time and cookouts!
