Met1985
Yeah next week is looking much wetter on the models. I should have storms in the forecast everyday next week looking at the GFS. Im loving the much much rainier spring this year rather than the extreme drought conditions last year. I agree. Being in a drought going into summer is about as bad as you get concerning the water table and farms. Maybe we will turn the tide on the oppressing heat to a much more average summer with bouts of heat although not extreme and normal rainfall. Could play a role in next winter also. qwertyu
What does it look like for the Charlotte area for this weekend? I have a "bucket list" item I'm doing and it's already been postponed once for weather. I realize it's not cool to ask for MBY forecast but it's kind of slow in here. Mods feel free to move or delete this post if I've broken the rules. Thanks!
dsaur
Well, Goofy is offering up the very rare "10 days O' rain" bonus gift so you might want to get it done early Sat, in case the spotty showers get you later. I have to say, as far as springs go, this one has been a doozy so far. Cool, rainy with only a few oppressive days. I'm way down on my suffer meter. Would that this change lasts!! nrgjeff
Looks dreary and cool next 7-10 days, not much severe. Some of the same issues that prevented winter storms in December are back. Positively tilted troughs are an even bigger debacle for severe than for snow. Lows ejecting into Ohio Valley keep best dynamics north. Southern stream may try, but to no avail if positively tilted. Good news is that I believe we're shaping up for the first normal/cool summer since 2009. Cheers!
Brick Tamland
I agree 100%! This spring weather is much better than the past two years when we were baking in 80 plus weather and humid as can be. Both models still look cool and rainy. Yeah next week is looking much wetter on the models. I should have storms in the forecast everyday next week looking at the GFS. Im loving the much much rainier spring this year rather than the extreme drought conditions last year. Speak for yourselves. I'd rather have 80 and sunny than cool and rainy. At least if we are going to have rain we could have some severe weather to follow to keep it exciting, but we're not even going to get that. And I am already tired of having to take time out of my weekends to mow the lawn ever week.

You only have a 20% chance of rain.Look like Saturday we start a cooler and wetter pattern as Met1985 and ngrjeff were saying. I have slightly below to below average temps everyday starting Saturday with rain in the forecast. That should be nice.
GaWx
Folks, Good news if you don't like heat. The brand new Euro weeklies have below normal temp.'s for the SE US for all four weeks, which goes through 5/19! Let's see if it verifies correctly. Tony, don't dance in the streets quite yet lol. dsaur
Oh, I'm a dancing fool these days. I was standing out there a little while ago and thinking how this reminded me of spring way back in the way back, when it was 60's in spring instead of 80's, and the nights were good sleeping nights without a fan, or even the windows open yet. I stood there thinking, "spring isn't so bad after all...I'd forgotten", lol. And if this "10 days O 'rain" actually verifies, I'll be dancing in the rain No building apprehension, no moments of terror like April a few years ago, no 89.3's like last year, or 90+ like the year before that in May. Shoot, I'm shiny!!! T

And if the 18z was right, we would need a boat for Tropical storm Andrea that just sits over the SE. It makes landfall in SC around 276 hours. dwagner88
Insane cold snap on the 12Z GFS. Would be a record late freeze for a lot of people on this board. Even some high elevation snow.

mackerel_sky
Lots of drenching rains last night , and this morning. Looks like a wet week ahead! This has been the best April precip and temp ( cool) wise I can remember in along time! Pretty consistent weekly rains, very little if any drought left. Being ahead of the game in the moisture heading in to summer is a great place to be for lawn and gardens. Flood watch issued for today, so too much of a good thing? jburns
Good thing the trees and plants stop putting out pollen after rain. The effect of rain on reducing pollen is overrated. A spring rain is often followed by a quick increase in grass pollen.
WidreMann
The effect of rain on reducing pollen is overrated. A spring rain is often followed by a quick increase in grass pollen. Yup. All the rain does is wash the big visible yellow pollen into pools and gutters. And then it dries out and goes back into the air.
