RitualOfTheTrout
Light snow picking up again now. Only a fresh coating so far. I'm right on the northern edge of the precipitation shield.
north pgh
Light snow picking up again now. Only a fresh coating so far. I'm right on the northern edge of the precipitation shield. Same as you. Southern Counties doing better today. I've got a good coating to 1/4 inch. Will probably end up with an inch or less but it has been coming down pretty good the last half hour. CoraopolisWx
Last burst for awhile it looks like. Nice and snowy heinz field.
RitualOfTheTrout
Moderate snow now. Most of the morning it has been just a fine granular snow, but for past 20 minutes now I've had some nice flakes coming down. Roads are all getting covered, closing in on a quarter inch. CoraopolisWx
Any signs of anymore bands coming through?Looks like the forecasted dryslot has shut things down for awhile.Actually, it looks like we have a quite period coming up.
RitualOfTheTrout
Looks like once this shuts off we are pretty much done. Probably some very light freezing drizzle later.
Rdd9108
Happy with 1/2 inches and some moderate to heavy snow. I wasn't expecting much, but have yinz seen the snow at the Phillys game?
north pgh
Happy with 1/2 inches and some moderate to heavy snow. I wasn't expecting much, but have yinz seen the snow at the Phillys game? Yes we always get more snow over here but we very seldom get the heavy thump snow that the east coaster get. They don't get snow often but when they get it they get it. tsteel
Just over 0.25 inches in Cabot. Mostly light snow here the heavier bands stayed south and east.
north pgh
Looking at the models we may see a little snow moving in Tuesday morning or so. Nothing big but looking better each run. Maybe another 1-2? http://collaboration.cmc.ec.gc.ca/cmc/cmdn/pcpn_type/pcpn_type_gem_reg.html
Rdd9108
It all adds up in the end. I hope we see a cold and snowy winter. I hear stories from my elders all the time about Pittsburgh winters but only experienced 2010 which was awesome. I think we are do for a foot of snow. It has been almost 4 years since 2010. RitualOfTheTrout
00z NAM looking juicier for the Tuesday wave. Showing at least .25, and get this... its ALL snow. That would be a nice change, but can the NAM be trusted is the question?

That would be a nice change, but can the NAM be trusted is the question? I said this earlier about the GGEM picking this up. This little wave keeps growing. We will see if the GFS catches on. We may be in for a little surprise Tuesday. At least it is trending.

That would be a nice change, but can the NAM be trusted is the question? I don't. lol I trust it in terms of storm track maybe but not QPF. Almost always exaggerates the intensity it seems. I still think whatever we see Tuesday will be very minor.

CoraopolisWx
Other than the storm before thanksgiving, the models have been a bit suspect. They're gonna have to perform better, to put much stock in them right now.
Rdd9108
The models cannot be trusted. Everyone of them has had their problems. Im interested to see how this and next weekends possible threat turns out.
tsteel
Thin layer of ice accumulation in Cabot roads are probably pretty dicey right now. Temp is still 28 here
WeatherFox
The models cannot be trusted. Everyone of them has had their problems. Im interested to see how this and next weekends possible threat turns out. That's why it is also useful to go with the ensembles to forecast the probabilities of different possible outcomes.. Rdd9108
But even the ensembles didn't predict the bust on friday night. It just shows us that weather is unpredictable and things like the heavy snow in NJ can happen suddenly.
north pgh
It looks like another busy week. Minor snow on Tuesday and something to watch for the weekend. Nothing boring about this season so far.
Rdd9108
Time for bed but the weekend storm looks interesting with the invasion of some very frigid air in place. If this continues this will turn out to be an awesome winter.
RitualOfTheTrout
12z NAM starting to look more inline with the other models now, cut total qpf back to around .1 for most of us. Looks like another one were SE does better, but I would think ratios should be high so its possible to squeeze out 1-2 inches from it assuming we don't see it dry up more. Hopefully we have a nice region wide coverning of snow for the upcomming cold.
RitualOfTheTrout
GFS looking pretty similar in terms of qpf.
Rdd9108
So this might be a 1-2 event tomorrow morning? Have you looked into the weekend threat yet, Im at work and can't check till break
RitualOfTheTrout
So this might be a 1-2 event tomorrow morning? Have you looked into the weekend threat yet, Im at work and can't check till break 1-2 would be my guess right now. On the 12z Op GFS the weekend storm goes right over us almost, so its not a snowy solution verbatim.
north pgh
So this might be a 1-2 event tomorrow morning? Have you looked into the weekend threat yet, Im at work and can't check till break 12z GFS has the weekend storm currently moving across and wrapping up over the New Jersey Coast. It throws good snows back over Western Pa and Ohio but precip typ could be an issue. We are in that mix area too. Still too early as this storm's path will go back and forth. At least it has a storm and we will have to wait and see if the other models have it too.
