IsentropicLift
High res NAM gets the very heavy precip just into NYC for a short period of time.

MJO812
Upton just lowered the amounts. Over an inch for southern areas.
LongIslandWx
Sure there was a good chance that Upton could have busted by leaving the WWA up, but with that radar and heavy precipitation so close to the area and now these model printouts, it would have been prudent IMO just to leave it up in case. It's not like they had warnings out. But.....I understand why a call was made...just a very tough one to make.
jm1220
Starting to think that an inch or so of snow is possible around the city and especially south shore of NYC, Long Island. Precip is edging north very slowly, but should be able to overtake at least those areas. But anything significant should still be from Monmouth County south. nyblizz44
Upton just lowered the amounts. Over an inch for southern areas. In 2-4 hours they maybe regretting that. The echoes are inching north. Im in southern Queens so we shall see. It is a tough storm 2 handle as the confluence is a beast. Were it not here clearly it would a wholly different picture. IsentropicLift
I counted roughly 8 panels of moderate precip for NYC proper on the 12z high res NAM. If correct, it will be all over for the city shortly after nightfall.

I think what they are saying is not that it won't snow, just that it won't accumulate enough for a WWA, especially on paved surfaces. WWA are usually hoisted for hazardous driving conditions, nobody really cares if someone gets 3" on there deck.

IsentropicLift
At last some pressure falls starting to occur north of the coastal low. Primary filling in fast, pressure has risen 8mb in the past hour. Coastal low down to 991mb now about 100 miles ESE of Ocean City, MD.
Sock Puppet
Exactly. MJO812
Exactly. We gotta be a few degrees below freezing to accumulate this time of year Well we did get a slushy accumulation last week with temps near freezing.

weatherbear5
Are you talking about on the roads? Because it was accumulating in my backyard through the day (not a ton, but it did)
jm1220
Confluence definitely putting a halt to the northern extent of the snow. Looks like it's being stopped cold from advancing any more. North of White Plains likely sees just a trace.
Sock Puppet
Based on my obs here in Brooklyn. It won't accumulate anywhere during daytime if temps are above freezing. MJO812
The precip is reaching NYC and that's it.Strong confluence. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=OKX&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes
nyblizz44
Simple rule of thumb. anything under 1 inch per hr will not accumilate anywhere(not grass not roads) with temps at 38 during daytime. expect nothing and if you get a inch be happy Based on my obs here in Brooklyn. It won't accumulate anywhere during daytime if temps are above freezing.

weatherbear5
When and if precip falls I can almos guarantee it won't be 38, dew points in the mid 20's it'll probably wet-bulb down a few degrees

O well, it is nice to see snow in late March.

That's like saying if it wasn't red it would be blue. Enjoy your white rain, looks like up in Ramsey were going to be 10 miles too far north. At home looks to be doing slightly better. If anything the snow's being forced back south. We need another push north or we get little more than what we already have. The CT coast might actually just get zero.
