nwburbschaser
Any opinions on the potential for a cut off low during the first week of May? I keep seeing this on the GFS and keep hoping it's gone on subsequent runs, but it seems to be rather adamant on developing the low during the first few days of May. gosaints
That's an ugly cutoff that keeps showing its head on the euro in the long range

BowMeHunter
Oh Nose. GFS knows diddly we hope. Might be good for the severe snobs? WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF THIS WARM PATTERN CAN PERSIST AS A MAJORITY OF LONG RANGE GFS ENSEMBLES INDICATE A RETURN TO A NEGATIVE AO/NAO FARTHER DOWN THE ROAD IN EARLY MAY...AND THAT WAS THE PATTERN THAT GENERALLY DOMINATED FROM ROUGHLY MID FEB TO MID APR...RESULTING IN PREVAILING BLO NORMAL TEMPS. SpartyOn
Ya. Maybe we can have a really cool Summer so we can torch and rain all next winter.

hawkeye_wx
The latest GFS has a cutoff upper low parked over the lakes region for the first week and a half of May. That had better not come close to being right. The latest Euro shows the low as well, but hopefully it can get kicked out after only a couple days. gosaints
+1 Keep in mind... its probably right and May will suck. Sure a cutoff will probably happen but for the length of time being depicted on the GFS??? I dont knnow how likely that is
nwburbschaser
I think a cut off is almost inevitable, but how long it sticks around is still very much in question. Hopefully it gets moved out quickly.
frostfern
Tell me about it, I can only remember a few in the last few years. Many of the storms we have had have been at night or on cloudy/semi-cloudy days lately. Michigan owns the weakening AM MCS. Some summers that's the only thing we get. michsnowfreak
even a really cool summer has its moments and is warm. sally lol Exactly. Just like a mild winter has snowy, cold days. We kinda live in an area where summer and winter are a guarentee. Whatever the dominant force is, remains to be seen. Heres to lots of days with the windows open this summer! michsnowfreak
Ya. Maybe we can have a really cool Summer so we can torch and rain all next winter. Or we can just have a cool summer...followed by a cold winter. Kinda the opposite of our May 2011-Aug 2012 stretch
andyhb
Lol Mike Smith thinks that a "May 2003" pattern might setup this year. Yeah, sure, I'd really like to see what he is basing this on.
frostfern
Snow/cold weenies just have to wish for a boring suppressed spring/summer with no thunderstorms. I don't care for another death ridge but I also don't want to be on the back side of a cutoff all May and June. It's not like the severe snobs go around rooting for mild and rain in the middle of winter.

Me and the wife only raised money for the victims and I was on here following the same severe storm you were. You and tebo wouldn't know sarcasm if it bit you in the arse though. I've mentioned many times in the past that I wouldn't even wish a crippling ice storm on my worst enemy but, I'm going to go wishing a Joplin on somebody.. so lulz.
