60º at LAF today. Only two days with 60º+ high temps this month.

No 70º+ high temps at IND this month, only the 12th time that's happened in March since 1943 (start of airport observations). More on that, and March 2013 on the whole, later...

No 60s this March.  Last March we had 21 days at 60 or above!  Also had two days last March where the lows were above 60 lol.  Incredible difference between last year and this year.  Hopefully that means this chase season will be the opposite of last year too lol.

Down to 38° now.

60°s... what do those feel like!?

You live in the coldest spot in the CWA hands down. Those rare warm days in normal/cool springs must be cherished since they're rare. If the strong baroclinic zone sets up as climatologically favored south of I80 next week, wouldn't he surprised if there's a day where it's in the 70s down in PNT while you have a wind off the lake and temps in the 40s lol.

Same deal in Chicago, although today hit 60 at MDW so it did reach 60 I'm Chicago, just not "officially" lol. Not sure if you saw the PNS I did, including this year, it was only the 23rd March with no 60s in Chicago. The difference between last March and this March really is incredible. I too am hoping for a more active spring so we don't go right back to drought conditions.

I've seen that before! Definitely more lake influence here than further down the shoreline closer to Chicago. Even a SSE wind cools this corner of the county while areas south of Waukegan are enjoying more mild air.

Overall I don't mind it - in the summer that means more days of free lake air conditioning here!

It's definitely something that's a good thing if you don't like the heat by the summer time but in April and May that just seems like it would be frustrating when even the west and northwest burbs are into the 70s to get knocked back to the 40s or 50s. One thing is for sure, until the lake really warms up, tue lake breezes will really pack a punch this year unlike last year.

That is really something. One of the crazier year to year swings you will ever see.

19.1º was the previous greatest year to year difference for Indianapolis, for March.

March 1946: 51.9º

March 1947: 32.8º

Of course, before last March, 1946 was tied for the warmest March on record. Should have seen it coming. :D

Somehow this March managed to be drier than last March. Only 0.75" in the gauge for the month. I'll take no snow in April, but for ****s sakes hopefully there's at least some active weather.

Drier than average month across much of the US as well
