I noticed that....theres all these dirty piles of debris/rock in all the parking lots now that many of the snow piles have melted. Most of the ones that remain are rock-hard black piles of ice lol.

Strange day here. Overcast (well thats nothing new lol) and temps would shoot into the low-mid 40s, then a convective snow shower would hit and wet (not whiten) the ground causing temps to fall to the mid-upper 30s, then once the snow shower passed it would shoot up to the low 40s again...then back down to the mid-upper 30s with the next snow shower. And so on and so on.

We hit 48 here today

Today was the most beautiful day in months it seemed. It reached 38 at my house with full sun after 12pm.  I could hear the snow melting off the roof.  Went for a walk and the sun warmed my back..... felt so good!

18-20" still on the ground as of today.

Safe to say you'll have a white Easter!

18z GFS showing a cold blast to end the month. Looks like a cold rain for many to on Sunday.

DLL - should be a near perfect spring for maple syrup. Last year the season was super short and I believe the the syrup was more "runny" then usual.

Found some daffodils coming up from the leftover autumn leaves this afternoon. Don't expect flowers too soon though...

Wow..nothing like that around here that i've seen...

I did a quick search on maple syrup and found some threads about Wisconsin...sounds like its flowing even up far north Wisconsin (south facing), but its tough getting around with all the snow....  Should be an excellent year for that if this pattern holds (which it will!)...

The weekend storm's jackpot zone shows up pretty nicely on vis today.  You can see that SPI is the epicenter, as the white seems very bright all around that area.

Kinda cool how the cumulus field develops all around the snowpack area over the warmer surfaces.

Cyclone - at least it looks like you had some decent sun today. Probably didn't get more than an hour's worth today here. Today was the 4th 40 of the month!

This time last March I had 4 50s, 7 60s, 5 70s, and 2 80s.

Predicted highs are in the upper 40s now for the weekend.

Torch here today...made it to 40º at LAF. Seriously though, felt kinda warm with mostly sunny skies...suppose it's all relative. Lots of melt today, but still about half the yard covered. Soon, only the plowed piles will remain.

Golfers around here starting to get antsy. Talked to several today that said they heard next week was going to be in the 60's and 70's. Hmm, good old Chad must be at it again.

The general public is weather dumb. But they get their weather from one source here in the LAF. ;)

Barring any unexpected surprises, 3.7" looks to be the March total snowfall here...at Detroit officially just 3.1". Its funny because while it sucks and is certainly a low-hole for snow in the region, it doesnt even come close to making the top 20 least snowy marches (#20 is 1.7"). In addition to the light snowfall, only 0.71" precip so far (we will almost certainly rank in the top 20 driest but I will hold off on saying how high because of a rain threat Sunday). The temp departure will probably be somewhere between -3 and -4F. Despite the light precip, its been a very gray March, and despite the light snowfall, 17 days this month had a T or more of snowcover.

Also...the trend of ridiculously snowy Febs and low-snow Marches just looks silly now. The 1880-2000 longterm average snowfall for Feb (9.1") and Mar (7.1") was only a 2-inch difference. That longterm average has even changed this past decade. The snowy March of 2008 has helped the low-snow marches from skewing the longterm record much, but the same cannot be said for Feb. It just keeps going up.

Since 2007....snowfall officially at DTW

...........FEB.....MAR

2007....14.1"....5.5"

2008....24.2"..21.0"

2009......8.5"....1.0"

2010....27.0".......T

2011....31.7"....8.6"

2012....10.2"....0.2"

2013....23.5"....3.1"

Last 7 FEB avg: 19.9"

Last 7 MAR avg: 5.6"
