When its 90, and you go running, are you wearing the same outfit as when its 20? Exercising outside isnt nearly the same....the heat sucks for those who have to be out in it all day.

I used to work outside all the time back home in VA. It's usually not that bad here.

That's why I love my location. I can be in NYC in about 25 minutes. Upstate NY in a half hour. PA in 45 minutes and AC in an hour and 45 minutes. Philly in just under 2 hours. It's the best of both worlds. Close to everything but I have a house on 3/4 an acre of property with a lawn, trees, three cars and three dogs. It's a different life style. I'd kill myself in the city. My sister on the other hand is living in Queens (law student at St. Johns). One time it took me 2 1/2 hours to get there from here. I live 37 miles from KLGA per my GPS.

Coming from someone who was born and raised and lived in NYC for 27 yrs I can honestly say living in the country is 1000x better. Quality of life, Cost of living, Health etc.. Whats funny is how most of these ppl who live south of 96st aren't even from NYC lol.. Kids with wealthy families who begged mommy and daddy to rent them a 200 sq ft apt for 3k a month so they can party every night and pretend to go to college. Your always gonna have ppl who grew up in the country want to live in the city and the ones who grew up in the city want to move to the country..

I see I'm not the only one who doesn't like the idea of living in a city, I really can't wait to move...somewhere warmer.

i work outside in construction for 10 hours a day

nothing feels better than being in 5 degrees with 40 MPH winds, makes you feel so alive

25 degrees with a breeze is enough to make me want to stand in flames, I couldn't imagine what 5 degrees in 40 mph winds must feel like.

I find it interesting that most people here seem to prefer the cold. I'd take 100's over 30's any day.

If you dress in layers it isn't that bad. Carhartt makes great cold weather gear

It does seem like the majority of people born and raised in the city eventually move out, especially once they have kids. I've always wanted to live in the city for a year and see if I liked it. Giving up my car and freedom would be difficult though. I'm used to just getting up and going places without having to worry about a schedule. But until you do it you don't know. I've also always wanted to live out in the country but not sure I'd want to give up alot of the conveniences that being in the suburbs provide. I guess it just depends on your definition of country. My NYC born and raised friend thinks we live in the 'sticks' and he's scared to death of all the crittahs outside at night, yet our area is fairly urban but still quiet and peaceful but by no means is it the sticks.

By the way wasn't this thread about spring? :-)

This was brought up before, but we'll likely go from this "crap" to summerlike conditions rather quickly.

Backdoor front season and seabreezes can throw a wrench into that very quickly, even for the city. Hopefully when we can finally break this pattern we lose the troughiness NE of us, as that almost always mean a sneaky marine layer headed SW.

Spring looks to be a ways off with a major cold shot 3/26-3/27 as -10C 850s once again move into the Northeast. There might be one or two days near average afterwards but the ECM and GFS are pretty chilly with a storm signal around April 2nd as a huge trough remains carved out. I'm not seeing any sustained warmth for a while.

Getting stuff to stick in cj good luck with that given the surface temps...ooh big deal wet snow that does not stick. Its not so unusual for march. I could see people getting excited for six inches of snow that sticks but this?

Completely agree. Even if we got 5 inches, only half that will stick. And what sticks will be gone within 2 days due to the strong March sun, regardless of temperatures. Winters breathing it's last breath. Sure we may get some small chances at wet snow the next few weeks, but it won't be around long. Cold I can deal with, the warmth WILL come :)

Joe B:

Model precip and ratios not to be trusted as deepening upper air "bowling ball" and unusual cold air similar to 1982 storm stumped many

My point about snow amounts in the east.. as we get closer, the reality of what the model is showing sfc/aloft will translate to totals
