NYC is awesome, I do like it here.  At some point I'll head back south to DC but not anytime soon.

Whatever floats your boat. I've lived in this area all my life. NYC is a nice place to visit. Cool to go to Yankee games or catch a show or go to a comdedy club once in a while but afterwards it's nice to head home to place where I can see the stars and have peace and quiet.

To each their own. I'm 25 and about to start an internal medicine residency and couldn't be happier its in NYC. Convenience, everything at your fingertips, all the entertainment you can think of, in addition to having family and friends here. Do I want to raise a family here though? Or live here for more than 5-6 years? No not a chance. But when you're young and trying to live life to the fullest there is no better city than NYC. Rant over lol

Yea, the main drawback is not having a car.  It's actually pretty difficult to physically leave NYC when you have to depend on transit a lot of the time, so I don't really leave the island all that much.  If I had a car I'd definitely get out more.

Although I do like my neighborhood; it's pretty local-feeling.  If I lived by Times Sq or something I'd probably kill myself.

That's why I love my location. I can be in NYC in about 25 minutes. Upstate NY in a half hour. PA in 45 minutes and AC in an hour and 45 minutes. Philly in just under 2 hours. It's the best of both worlds. Close to everything but I have a house on 3/4 an acre of property with a lawn, trees, three cars and three dogs. It's a different life style. I'd kill myself in the city. My sister on the other hand is living in Queens (law student at St. Johns). One time it took me 2 1/2 hours to get there from here. I live 37 miles from KLGA per my GPS.

Yeah I miss not working in the city and having 50 different lunch places within a 2 block walk of my office. But I don't miss the walk through Herald/Times Square to get there. The clueless tourists make you want to punch somebody

I understand. It's also what you're used too. I've lived in the country so to speak my whole life. I'd be lost without a house and property.

Very true. I definitely want to raise a family in the suburbs...whether it is CT, westchester or north shore of LI

I love my location out in Morris County, NJ. It's also far enough west to cash in on most of the borderline snow events :P

The only drawback is that the taxes are high, but the property value is high so you get what you pay for.

I live in Morris too (but I rent)

I also work fairly close to you. You work in Ramsey, if I'm right. I work on MacArthur Blvd in Mahwah.. 2-3 minutes drive to downtown Ramsey.

I run outside twice a day usually. 90 is better than 20, 75-80 is about perfect

When its 90, and you go running, are you wearing the same outfit as when its 20? Exercising outside isnt nearly the same....the heat sucks for those who have to be out in it all day.
