I may be going to New York this weekend. If I wanted the highest possible odds of seeing heavy snow, should I stay in DC or go to New York?

skip both and go to boston

The other thing about this NAM run - its really fast. Basically a daytime Sunday event vs the GFS which is day/night and Euro which is overnight into Monday.

That's what I've been curious about. I suppose if it's cold enough, dark enough, heavy enough it might not matter, but I'd feel better knowing the heaviest precip would be from about 7pm-9am.

i think it is probably best to just have an open mind about this whole event given all the adverse factors...maybe we will be pleasantly surprised....i think going for the kill is probably going to just end up in disappointment

I have no doubt that if someone gets 0.5 or so during low light hours, they'll get 4" of snow. But that's the question, or two. Will someone get 0.5, and will it be sometime other than the height of the sun. Sounds like the eastern sections have the best shot of that.

It's amazing how optimistic people are on this forum about something that probably won't really get DC more than an inch. I'm not sure this is very safe for someone who loves snow.

Last time there was a possibility for a huge snowstorm I didn't sleep the nights leading up to the storm. This forum is probably the last place I should be.

You'd think we could do better with a 988mb low off the DEL marva. Nam is impressively cold with -9 just north of the M/D line as shown on the NAM.

I'm still sold on ZWTS's 4/3 event. It'll be the first storm ever the GFS sniffed out at 384 and never backed down on.
