Amped
Nice NAM run. Hopefully now we can get the rest of the models that showed 6-10" with 37f temps 2 weeks ago on board for a a big snowstorm.
PhineasC
We get NAM'd Yeah, it looks awesome. Too bad it's the NAM at 84.
WinterWxLuvr
We get NAM'd I just looked at that. That sim radar at 84 is insane. I guess it's the upper level stuff coming through as the low is pretty far off shore by then.
stormtracker
NAM is about as ideal as we can probably hope for here (I haven't seen snow maps/soundings tho). Unfortunately, it's the drunk Uncle of model suites. Euro is going to be the only horse I'm riding for this last hurrah.

PhineasC
I don't think he meant anything negative with that. Many of us are living through you guys in a sense. Yes, we've been happy with the snow we've gotten, but some of us do actually feel bad for those who haven't. I can't speak for everyone, but I know it's bothered me to see what you guys have endured mainly because I know how that disappointment feels. With the right timing, I don't think it's impossible to see a decent snow this late, even down there. The conditions are pretty good for a crazy event. Thanks for your pity, buddy. stormtracker
Absolutely. Serious post Putting the bias and jokes aside...and yes, given that we know the NAM is crap......with such strong blocking in place, wouldn't that solution make sense? I'm not talking about ridiculous QPF, etc. I mean the track and redevelopment of the low?
Yeoman
NAMer is solid.. this time of year flakes flying is good enough for me. Whatever falls isn't going to stick around more than a couple hours anyway.

It has to be the Euro.
Scraff
What's the NAM's deadly range again? Guessing 48 hours or less out? NAM love on Monday would make many happy...

stormtracker
What's the NAM's deadly range again? Guessing 48 hours or less out? NAM love on Monday would make many happy... Between 6 and 12 hours out is when the NAM starts getting within it's deadly range.

The Euro conversations are so hard to join because I can't see anything of much value with the access that I have, but isn't this NAM run a bit similar with the better precip happening later. I could see on the Euro Wunderground maps that it had a round of precip Sunday followed by a stronger round over night.

ORH_wxman
The answer is simple: never use it in winter. Its pretty much become a convection model now.
Deck Pic
we have never had a max below 33 after 3/24 EVER....and the low maxes were mostly from 1800's....the NAM is hilarious
MDstorm
Congrats RIC folks Although the amounts are surely overdone, the actual precip pattern/contour is similar to EURO from yesterday. It looks like another dreaded SW to NE gradient from hell developing. Similar to many of the systems this winter. MDstorm

Deck Pic
Its pretty much become a convection model now. I can't think of one reason to use it in winter...its temp profiles are a joke...its QPF is a joke....it over amplifies....it's storm track bounces around...what is the point when we have the euro? it makes sense to defer to the euro every single time

Quasievil
Even the celebratory NAM fantasies miss the BWI to Cecil County I-95 corridor. What a joke. Seasonal trends FTW. Best to stay VERY conservative, regardless of what the models show, for BWI/DC folks.
