mattie g
1 NNE FAIRFAX STATIO 1.0 1100 AM 3/18 TRAINED SPOTTER 2 WSW WEST SPRINGFIE 0.8 930 AM 3/18 TRAINED SPOTTER I'm pretty much between those two places, so maybe I picked up more than the .5 I mentioned earlier. Doesn't matter - I'll still record it at .5. Still measuring by the tenth of an inch...

Especially on a borderline temp event in mid-March.

Mrs.J
Just went from mist and sleet to sleet and large wet snow to rain in a matter of less than 5 min.
WinterWxLuvr
32 degrees here. Man it would be great if these temps had been around on March 6.
FrederickWX
Yeah, sleet started here as well. Most impressive for March 18.
WEATHER53
Pretty serious back to back snow blunders by NWS and some other. Too much model reliance. Never was on board for this, when that precip developed as a strung out line rather than a more circular, consolidated mass I knew we were in trouble. Radar and other obs are the way to go, those that say not are wrong. Really, the 2nd part of the 2nd Feb 2010 is about the only exception where the 500mb low was not distingusihable until it dropped in and blew up-other than that; trust your eyes. mappy
Left work and it was raining. At the city/county line sleet started to mix in. At the beltway/83 interchange it was all sleet. Changed back to a mix bag on Padonia road, and now rain at my house.
