Vandy
So I decided to try and get an up close view of the two tallest peaks on the North American continental divide, Grays Peak and Torreys Peak. You approach via a long but scenic trail through Stevens Gulch. I definitely want to hike these two (crowded) mountains this summer, but today it was great just seeing the weather move in and out. Kelso Mountain in the background Mount Edwards in the snow. A snow vortex! A view of the entire McClellan-Edwards ridge after the weather turned. Looking back up the Gulch. The first other person I saw all day. Finally Grays (middle) and Torreys (right) poked out from their shroud!
Chinook
How did you drive that road in winter? Steven's Gulch road isn't nice.
Vandy
How indeed! Actually, I don't know if my car could make it up the road in the dead of summer. I hiked up from the I-70 lot. It added six miles round trip, but it was easy walking for the most part.
