wisconsinwx
Can never have too much moisture! IIRC the spring preceding that wonderful cool "summer" of 09 was wet as hell. I'd take all the rain we can get if it means another cool summer! I agree with that statement, though it's hard to say we need the moisture here when we know the extreme need for our neighbors to the west in the Plains. I'd give up some of our moisture to them, but it certainly isn't a bad thing for us either.
cyclone77
So far most of the heavier rain has stayed in Iowa. 0.36" here so far, but most of that feel this morning and early afternoon. Might get some heavy rain tomorrow morning though while Iowa is getting dumped on.
Geos
0z NAM still a good hit from DSM to the U.P. Been some clearing outside in the last hour. Temp cooled off a tad.
daddylonglegs
Could really be riding the line here... I'm at .25 here... I think a lot of the water is coming from melting snow. Streets are not flooded, but some huge puddles have formed. Looks done for now.
Geos
DLL - that's a lot less rain than predicted. You were highlighted for 1"+ right? NAM HIRES shifted east a good deal.
weatherbo
34 and rain. I like it. Any rain that falls in the Great Lakes basin, even if it doesn't soak in the ground, it's serving to raise lake levels. I read that by May, there's a good possibily to erase last years deficit in Lake Michigan. Long term deficits are another story. Got lots of plans in the yard, time to get rid of the snow. This rain won't do it however and with high temps flirting with freezing next week, that won't either. Maybe by late month it will be gone. wxman1952
Wish i waas getting in on the snow. But I am glad for those in the bullseye. Just havn't been in the favored storm track all winter.
wisconsinwx
0z GFS, unlike some other models, doesn't really strengthen the deformation zone until it crosses the Mississippi. La Crosse to Rhinelander get hit pretty good with some initial cold rain turning into heavy snow.
Geos
Still no rain yet. 0z GFS.

daddylonglegs
Models were pretty consistent the past few days in giving this area around an inch of liquid...so yeah...at about .30 ... Tomorrow will have to be watched close...
Geos
Rain band in WI falling apart right now. Radars are dropping like flies tonight.
cyclone77
0.42" total for the day right at midnight. Looks like heavy rain off an on the rest of tonight and much of tomorrow. Snow depth looks like it's down to about 3" now. Should be gone by tomorrow night.
TimChgo9
Good chunk of the snow around here is gone or almost gone on any south-facing surface. Still piles and such in the shadows, and shade. This rain is going to put a huge dent in the snow cover however. Then, for most of next week, it looks like we are close to 40, and the 10 day shows a few days with sun, and 40's. Spring is definitely on the way. Not too upset about missing the potential snow. Congrats to those who cash in......

wisconsinwx
Makes you wonder, with this rain being overhyped on the models, if that affects the second wave tonight with the strong low and the snow on the backside for La Crosse, Green Bay, et al. daddylonglegs
GFS this morning has a honey spot over Iowa of 16-18 inches... near Mason City... I'm on the edge of 6-8 inches... looks like just north of here it should pile up.....
hawkeye_wx
NWS has CR in 4-6 inches, but the models suggest otherwise. The 12z NAM has shifted all snow nw of CR to Dubuque line. Mason City has gotten much less snow than Des Moines and Waterloo this season, so they deserve to get a good storm.
cyclone77
Picked up another 0.35" since midnight, bringing the total for the storm to 0.77. Been in a dry period, but another large shield of rain moving in now.

cyclone77
Some pretty heavy downpours at the moment. Looks like the front stalls out nearly overhead through tonight. HRRR has us approaching 50 this afternoon. That would take care of the rest of the snow cover pretty easily. Been holding at 40 for awhile now. A-L-E-K
Makes you wonder, with this rain being overhyped on the models, if that affects the second wave tonight with the strong low and the snow on the backside for La Crosse, Green Bay, et al. probably over half an inch of rain here with another half on the way. Models will be right on the money here. Building quite the surplus up heading into spring.
wisconsinwx
The models really overplayed precipitation here. Guess the axis was se of the projected axis.
