mattie g
What are your top few "bang for the buck" courses around here? I guess it's all realtive. Some people don't mind a hacker's paradise that has a good layout, while some people expect relative tranquility and clubhouse staff that waits on you hand and foot. Yet others just want to get out and play anywhere in the rare spare moments they have. I suppose it's a matter of how much you play and what you expect to get from a day on the course. My best advice is to get on Groupon and/or Living Social and pick up the deals when they come out. EZLinks is another place to check for good prices a few days out from when you're planning to play - you can usually find a few good deals at some nice courses. It's tough to find a good public/semi-private course near the Beltway, so you generally have to look further out in order to play a nicer course that's not crowded as all hell. I played Old Hickory (Woodbridge) yesterday for around $45 with a Groupon (great, great course), and we're playing Raspberry Falls (Leesburg) next for about $55 - both of those prices are almost 50% off the regular greens fees. We played The Gauntlet (north of Fredericksburg) in the fall for a real cut price, as well. And we played another nice course - South Riding - a few times last summer for about 40% off. Montgomery Village up in Montgomery County *always* has deals going, and it's a pretty good semi-private track. Like I said, the best way to play around here for a good price is to wait for deals and take advantage when you can, otherwise you're looking at well upwards of $75/round easy for a decent day out. That's what my buddies and I have been doing the last couple years, and we've played some really nice courses (see above) for a very reasonable rate. CranberryWX
Wow....I thought you had typo'd, looked and all of western WV was in mid to upper 70's, crazy! Hit 63 here yesterday, which was really nice. Funny walking in short sleeves and looking at snow on the mountains, feels like you are in Rockies when this happens. Yeah, it felt like I was in Houston. My grass is going to need cut soon. A lot of people got their motorcycles out on Sunday.

Harv_poor
I played 18 yesterday in glorious conditions - absolutely perfect except for the occasional wind. We're looking to play again on the 23rd, so I'd like this talk of chilly weather to 'eff off. Thanks. We actually had a frost delay on Sunday and could not tee off until 10 AM. But what a great day for golfing.Upcoming Saturday and Sunday may be too cold to swing the clubs.
