You tell em Bob. This forum ain't for candy asses!

The wide majority of this forum likes snow.  But a much lower percentage actually seem to enjoy winter.  Complaints about cold and wind abound.  Its so strange to me.

Then when spring comes along, many want to default immediately to summer.  I will never get it.  March is a blustery cold month.  April gets milder, but then we'll hear the complaints about rain.

We forget what "normal" is. In April I expect temps be pretty varied. And I expect and hope for rain.

May is always quite warm. So a "normal" April is much appreciated.

Pretty much. I love snow, skiing, etc. but winter on the whole is just miserable IMO. I hate it outside of the few weeks around Christmas.

I spent two weeks in western Europe in December and that was snow basically every day. There can be too much of a good thing.

And the longer this terrible spring pattern lasts, the fatter I get.

I'm going to take the other side.  40s and 50s are great in the Fall when we finally get a break from summer, the leaves are coming down, and we are headed to the holiday (and snow!) season.  40s and 50s are more of a necessary evil in March when everything is still soggy and dead.  By the time April rolls around, the normal highs are in the 60s.  I would like to maximize the time with temps in the 60s and 70s.  So, above normal early and below normal late is the best Spring possible.  Below normal early (like now) and above normal late is by far the worst combo.  I am still wearing my winter coat and hat while walking the dog at night.

I don't think there would be as much whining if we could see some sustained 60s or 70s in the long range models, but that hasn't shown up yet.

Anomalous below normal is starting to go away on both the gfs and euro. Last nights euro moved the center of the lowest height in canada more towards the center and further north allowing a more zonal/progressive flow around our latitude. Looks like the really cool stuff is starting to get locked up north of CA border.

60's-70's are breaking out in the plains towards the end of the run. This is a good sign. Pretty normal this time of year for heights and warmth (relative warmth) to build in the center of the country before we finally get a nice shot of it. We just need to root against sneaky back door fronts. I have a hunch that next week's strong cool shot may be the last hurrah and we start normalizing from there.

Since 1945, there have been 2 months where we did not have a 70 degree reading in either February or March

1958 - No 70 degree reading from November 20th to April 13th

1993 - No 70 degree reading from November 24th to April 14th

Can we get to April 15th?

Interesting, I just posted that 58 was a good potential analog for April in the disco thread.
