Capt. Adam
Now that precip has stopped, temps rising rather quickly, up 3 degrees in the last 2 hours, not what you typically expect this time of day. I don't believe we ever got over an inch as precip rates just weren't hard enough here. Most of it will be gone by dark...
mgerb
this is from tim (allsnow) 7 in edison Wow. That's impressive. We got into some real good banding. Around noon it started to accumulate on the roads again. I was in a very good spot for this storm. I could only imagine if it was late January. I was in a very good spot for this storm. I could only imagine if it was late January. Thanks again for taking our reports. Yeah, that heavy band was just to our east. Great to see that you were able to cash in under it even during the middle of the day. Looking out the window right now in Piscataway, looks like there's barely an inch left on the ground, and bare in some areas too. I have no idea how I'm going to come up with a storm total, considering my last measurement was 8 AM and won't be home for another hour or two. By that time, whatever fell today will be long gone! 3.4" storm total it may remain....

It's funny how I can see the difference in accumulation traveling w-e. In these late winter storms it's usually the other way around. This is my 3rd warning snowfall of the winter, really can't complain about it at all now lol.

famartin
The 3.5" my parents had today ties early November for the second biggest event of the season. Now it would be fitting if this was it.
famartin
A number I was waiting for... liquid equivalent since midnight back home was 0.31". Add in 0.03" from before midnight and you get 0.34". So the globals were too dry... but there were NAM runs which had over 0.75" so I certainly don't call this an outright NAM victory. I wasn't paying enough attention further north and east to declare a winner. I still think the NAM sucks

RU848789
Wife just called to say we got an additional 1.5" since I left for work, bringing us up to 6.5" in Metuchen. Holy ****e! Talk about way overperforming - this is the kind of forecast bust I love, lol. And it ended up being more widespread than I thought, with areas to the W and S of us doing at least pretty well (lots of reports of 3-5" in Warren/Somerset/Monmouth etc.). Been busy all day at work, but my wife sent me an email around 1 pm, saying we had 2.5" of new snow since 7 am (I cleared off our deck table for her), which, combined with the 5.0" I measured at 7 am, leads to 7.5" overall. Snow still fell after that, but didn't add appreciable accumulation as snowfall rate didn't really exceed the melting rate in the afernoon. I think that's a fair total, as it's 6 hours after my initial measurement. Sure, total depth was about 6.5-7.0", due to compaction, but I think 7.5" is kosher. I do, however, think the NWS/NOAA should try to come up with one single way to measure snow, so we don't get into these arguments, although that's a hard thing to do and enforce. Regardless, what an awesome "make-up" storm after the debacle on Wednesday. Reports from Middlesex County need to be updated, as they were all from this morning and more fell in most spots (3-5" on the NWS page). Brings the season total to 32.0". Not a bad winter, after all! RU848789
Yeah that was very impressive also. I'm around 7 now. Approaching what I got in the February storm. This last band is adding to the total. What a great bust Been busy all day, but just posted that we got 7.5" in Metuchen, so AllSnow's 7" sounds reasonable, as he's only a mile or so from my house. We got 5" as of 7 am and my wife measured 2.5" more around 1 pm, which is when the melting rate started equalling the snowfall rate. 32" for the season. Absolute Humidity
Ray, ratios were rather high. I had .47 melted snow for 6.5". I also had .13 of rain and none accumulated snow totaling .60 on the nose. I'd say that's that's somewhere between the NAM and the EURO. As far as who won? I'll wait for you to make that call. Total liquid my parents had today was 0.31" for 3.5" of snow, which includes what fell as non-accumulating snow and rain, so I'm gonna guestimate that their ratios were on par with your 14:1. famartin
Possibly the warmest high ratio snow I've seen. Big beefy flakes, but dry instead of wet. The cold air aloft helped a lot with that. Its more common here (in the high desert) to be just below freezing yet have decent ratios.
