Webster is a hole, had an office there for 10 years, Im doing ok here, up to 6" and coming down steady at 30 deg

The difference between ytou and Webster is ridiculous a lot of the time and then when you climb into Charlton which is a pretty good snow town.

This science can be so humbling...even being bullish in ORH county and interior SE MA...I will be wrong. I would have never predicted Foxboro to do this or the hills here. Deep layer easterly fetch is almost always prolific for southern New England sticking out in the Atlantic like we do, but even still, this one is going to be pretty amazing in some areas....when compared to what many were frecasting lessthan 24 hours ago.

Yup.

Makes you really take a step back and think of the basics/how much we don't know even with all the modern technology we enjoy.

Whoever jackpots could pull a 20" total, easily. Wow, 6 or so less than the blockbusters of the last ~10 years around here and some well paid attention to mets were calling for all rain. Humbling for sure though some were obviously out to lunch and we knew it. Nobody had enough confidence to go out to the public and throw around 15-20", we talked amongst ourselves here about "this or that would be 20 verbatim" but I dont think anyone really thought it was happening.

Fun Storm!

You mentioned the blizzard.   The reason that there's 10 people on here and not 100- is that 10 out of 100 have a decent storm going.   ;)

Well we have about 300 posters....we had over 300 during the blizzard at this point...so 100 would only be about a third. Most of E MA and CT is getting a good event where much of the SNE posters live...but no biggie. Was just pointing out something that seemed a bit funny to me., I remember last Feb 29-Mar 1 having about 75 posters in the thread for that event after midnight....since we had like nothing all winter after the Oct snow bomb.

Yeah,  I just meant the 15-20" totals.   If the majority of posters were going to get at least that ( like the blizzard),  there'd be a flash mob here.  Many out of curiosity,  lurkers,  etc.

Do you think its possible the stadium can collapse :bag: .

You traded your snowstorm to Foxboro for a superbowl...it worked out ok for you if you like football more than a 18" snowstorm. Could go either way...I say good trade for each side...Foxboro already has 3 superbowls, they kind of wanted an 18" snowstorm.

Lol touché, enjoy your storm up there I am mega jealous. It is going to suck having to wait another 9 months to have a shot to see 1".

Ha, you must be mighty miserable then. My deepest sympathies to you for your many past and future years of misery. How the hell does someone who grew up in Worcester become a Cowboy fan?.

I watched the Cowboys win 3 SBs....I'm ok....I grew up in San Antonio TX from 1983-1988 after being born in Boston.....thats how

Living in Newport I'm used to disappointing snowstorms but this one is a league all by itself!  WTF...most of Rhode Island has been in a dryslot for the last 16 hours and I have less than an inch.  I haven't seen anything official from Fall River and New Bedford just to my ENE but I'm guessing both areas have around 6+.

Up to 9" now... how much do you think we could pull off here?

Easily another 2-4...perhaps more....this one is not easy to forecast...but bullish is the way to go with this firehose...for most anyway...there's a few screwzones but most people are out-performing.

Yeah I really feel for you guys... I can't recall the last time I've seen such an incredibly persistent "dry slot" like that.

The RI dryslot is the most perplexing thing I've seen in a long time...I mean its one thing to happen for 6 hours...but this is like 18 hours and counting...I really honestly cannot explain it....I expect it to fill in pretty quickly over the next 3-5 hours, but if it doesnt, then what the hell....another part of the frustrating aspects forecasting.

Seems to be a dead zone in forcing between the Atlantic firehose and the convergence zone/quasi-Norlun near NYC.  Even though the convergence zone has become better defined tonight, it's been around since at least midday Thurs.

BTW despite its atrocious QPF, the NAM did do well in indicating the dead zone over w. RI.

Yeah you might be right...that's a reasonable explanation...thanks. You still in Israel? At least we don't have the Ithaca Hole Effect!

One of the stranger events that I can recall

You can say that again....I've never seen a short term (like literally 12-18 hours) bust like the DC fiasco yesterday and now the New England disaster for frecasting (first no snow for BOS...then a winter storm warning 18 hours later)

At least not since the 1990s.

Scott and I were talking on the phone earlier tonight about jackpot fetishes....and you came up Ray...you have been suckered for about 4 years (but don't include the blizzard...you did great)...but we recalled many periods where a zone went 4-8 years without jackpotting in big events including ORH. You will get yours in time again. You will also clean up in this one late in the game between now and 11am.
