It's a bust. I'm pretty certain BOS will be 6+ by the time its over and few had that. I'm figuring 7-9AM brough 2 inches and now of course with lower rates at times it's stabilized. Unless all guidance is wrong it's a big bust as BOS is having no trouble staying in the low 30s and dropping close to freezing with heavier bands.

I could see there being a big disparity between Logan and more inland/residential parts of the city. Here in downtown (Gov't. Center), there was maybe a sloppy inch on non-paved surfaces when I arrived a little after 9:00 this morning and nothing has accumulated since despite it looking like a snow globe outside. Obviously that will change if the good rates continue well into tonight. I'll be heading back to Maine tonight and don't have a dog in this fight, but I hope you're right.

I think the next 2-3 hours will change that. Better echoes coming in now with a darker sky. We'll see. But I remember walking through Govt Center during the early parts of the April Fools 97 storm and it was wet with flakes pelting my ear. I got home to 4 inches and 3/hour so once the sun goes down things can change rapidly.

To me radar is coming together nicely. Moderate echoes pushing west in ORH county and light snow breaking out over most of CT now . This should be fun

Explosive fill-in across central and western CT and MA now.  Will it continue and hold???

That black hole of death still holds in SE CT and SW RI, however.

I don't think it will do much until near dusk to be honest..unless it somehow rips below 1/2SM. I think this is going as I figured when I went to bed last night. Tonight is the wild card.

It is getting darker though.

Yeah, radar looks great. We probably don't start accumulating here until after sundown however. The coastal seems stronger than modeled, there wasn't much QPF here during the day, most of it came with the trough tonight, although the radar looks much better. Positive  bust here perhaps? Hope springs eternal... :)

BOS keeps oscillating between 33 and 34 with darker and better rates now back to 33/32. Hopefully as night draws near we'll drop a degree or 3 more.

I think many places are going to get absolutely smoked this evening and overnight. Coming down pretty hard here at downtown crossing now...def picked up in the last few minutes.

Lots of wasted QPF near shore and to the SE.  Fortunately not all is being wasted.  I'm still optimistic about tonight.

It's been coming down good all morning.

Once the sun goes down..so long as we have the firehose..it should stick quickly. OCMs are still saying mix on the coast for BOS...completely wrong. Winds are north.

A nice middle finger of 25dbz magically appeared and launched itself from West Hartford right over Mt. Tolland, and up into central Mass.

Well that's sort of the idea. I did a little better than I thought this morning though. I don't have any elevation so that hurts.  Areas near 200-300' have double.

From my office window, looking out across Government Center and Cambridge Street...

I am right around the corner from you on School Street...actually only a couple blocks from Will (if he is at Downtown Crossing...)

All these weather weenies so close to one another lol...

Guys it'll be tight at Logan.  I've made zero progress here, 35.4.  It's snowing technically at times, but it's moosh.  Hoping nighttime can change that.

Very happy although messy and not quite as progged this is working out, particularly in the area that I went Gary Busey on southwest of Boston over Channel 7.

I think areas break 10"  and maybe quite a bit more, it will really just come down to where the band or two sets up.  My fear is it sets up closer to me (rain) than you guys (snow)

Yeah I was worried about surface temps during the day.  I know you were as well.  It's not just the wind off the ocean that warms the surface... it's also low elevation and a little bit of solar heating.  I've actually lived in Dorchester, Ma as well as NYC, and right on the water in Albany, NY.  So poorly accumulating slop events are painful memories in my mind.  At some point tonight it will seem like someone flipped a switch and in minutes everything will be covered.  6"+ is possible everywhere tonight.

with the firehose I think we have hope.  esp if you have some elevation.  I am 700 ft.

Yeah, I'm right around 600'. Have had some flakes floating around from time to time yesterday and today but no measurable. Still a foot on the ground plus or minus an inch. Back in NH (New Hampshire) yet?

When I left ORH this morning, the roads were snow packed. Only had to go down about 200-300 feet though until it was wet roads. Last night, even the lower spots of ORH at 500-600 feet were all snow covered roads...so the solar aspect def is in play if its not snowing at better than 1/2 moderate.

In Salem now, all snow here too and I'm not far from the water, coming down pretty good and the wind is ripping. There has still yet to be any rain, the call for rain on the coast seems way off up here.

It was always about the amount of precip which is what I wrestled with. Thank God I didn't have to put my cajones on the line for this. I thought 3-6 here last night when models began to show better potential for tonight's stuff. It may be too low if models are right..but I know how this area behaves this time of year..especially during the day. Winds were progged to be NNE and temps aloft were cold..so marine taint at least BOS and N isn't and won't be the issue IMHO.

But look what happens when you have the heavy precip. 4-5" in the lower spots of SE MA. That's the 495 TAN to ORH hotspot setting up. ORH will do well later on for sure.
