My depth peaked at around 5" on my grass (a little after 10 a.m.) Then it melted when we got into the dry slot and I took a nap. The snow picked up again pretty steadily at some points, but it was melting faster than accumulating. Probably a bit more "fell" than my 5" total, but since the depth was melting faster than accumulating, I feel weird counting that. We are now down to 3" and still melting. I actually made a snowman about 20 minutes ago while I still could. Very enjoyable event.

BTW, great photos, Kaner!

Thanks!

I've lived in manhattan for 2 years but never got a chance to stroll CPK during a storm. I've been missing out it was absolutely positively awesome. It was so serene and quiet, I highly recommend every do this once in your lifetime if you get a chance.

Sounds good, and again thank you for the measurements! I have no time/means from an office high rise down town. About to take a drive towards the merritt to see the differance in snow depth when i get out of here. Also, threats are not over for the winter..We need to run through another -nao block late next week into early the following week.

Yeah, EURO and GGEM like an adivisory event towards the end of next week maybe. Looking forward to 50s and sun this weekend, will probably go for a hike somewhere tomorrow, haven't decided where... My friend who had the food is way north of the merritt, basically on the CT/NY border, although it's melting up there like crazy as well.

My final total in Piscataway is 4.5". Much less than that now though. Despite cloudy skies, it is melting rapidly like you would expect in March. All of the snow has melted out of the trees, and only about 2 to 2.5 on the ground now. All of this will be a memory tomorrow afternoon. Nice event though. It was a beautiful postcard scene this morning with the trees and bushes covered. Nice way to wrap up the snow season, if this was the last event.

It's something I love to do during the height of a storm, just go out into the back yard, close the door and sit outside for a few minutes taking in the silence and the scene. Most fun when it's at night, I've gotten some great shots over the years from nightttime storms. Your pictures are really great, they really show why we all love snow so much, for scenes like those...

I had the same scenario happen earlier this morning, was going to count it in the total, but after several on the forum objected I realized it was a bad idea, I can't be sure what fell, probably not too much anyway...

Amazing how quickly it melts in March even with temps in the mid 30s...only about 2-3" left in Brooklyn where I work. Heading back to Westchester where there should be a lot more.

This would be a great cap to a quite wintry winter, but I doubt it's over with the positive anomaly developing over Greenland.

Virtually no trace of snow left in midtown. Nice, bring on the 50s.

Manchester, NH is 47 right now I believe and the rest of NNE is well into the 40s and near 50. What snow we have is gone in 24 hours.

I hope we get into the 50's to low 60's the latter half of the weekend but the NAM is insistent on having a nasty on shore flow keeping the coast in the upper 30's to low 40's

And just think, it's almost seabreeze/backdoor season!! :(

The shore will likely stay pretty raw-feeling if we have a southerly breeze off 30s-temp water.

Lucky we did as well as we did with a polar (and that might be a stretch) rather than an arctic high to the north...having water temps at their lowest levels of the year didn't hurt...even though surface winds were generally northerly...in December...with a similar high to the north...enough warm air would have probably wrapped into the system (even from off the Gulf of Maine / Bay of Fundy) to make most places rain.

2.5" in Deer Park, LI. Still the same amount from early this morning. No additional accumulations even though at times it came down at a moderate clip. It was just too warm (34 the whole day), because I didn't have the best snow rates like northern nassau and northern suffolk.
